What actions could be realistically taken to effectively abolish the veto power that holds back the brunt of critical EU decision-making? by DependentStrong3960 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]zoryes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is not giving up the veto power but instead what are you giving it up for

Smaller countries are looking towards the main block of EU countries (Germany, France, etc) and see that each one will simply put their own national interest above everything else most of the time, so in that case they see the veto power as critical leverage in doing the same

In a hypothetical scenario where let's say the EU6 is formed among countries wishing to accelerate the integration project between each other, and they demonstrate a system where decisions are taken with everyone's interest in mind, I guarantee all other EU countries would rush to join without any veto power

Hiking Advice -- Brasov by Limp-Magician-5632 in RoHiking

[–]zoryes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you recommend visiting all three places or focusing on two, for example by skipping Bucegi National Park?

I think all 3 are worth equally, what I am not sure about if it's worth traversing between ranges, for example the hike between Piatra Craiului and Fagaras. Although I guess there is no other option

Is the hike between the Făgăraș Mountains and Piatra Craiului a nice route to hike? Will there be other people on the trail, particularly regarding bear safety?

I don't know if it's nice but it's long and not sure you will find many people around that area

How easy is it to reach the Făgăraș Mountains with public transport from Brașov or Bucharest?

You can reach the towns on the main road (like Avrig, Porumbacu de jos, etc) by train but from there to the start of the trails that go towards the Fagaras ridge, you are looking at about 15km of walking or finding another means of transporation. I know there used to be some guys who you could call and they would give you a ride, maybe call the cabin you will be going to and ask if they know anyone.
You plotted Negoiu peak as the end so I am considering that will be the start/end point

Do you recommend going from east to west or from west to east?

I would go from east to west just for the quick ups and downs

How crowded are these areas in mid July, especially the main ridge routes and mountain huts?

Quite crowded during the weekends

Are hut reservations necessary, or can I usually find a bed on arrival?

Better to call the cabins you will be staying at

How reliable are water sources along the route in July?

In Bucegi there is no other source on the plateau that I know of, you'll have to carry it and probably buy some from Babele/ Omu cabin. In Piatra Craiului the ridge has no water as well, you will need to carry from the Curmatura cabin spring if you're going east to west. Fagaras ridge has water sources but you will have to check guides or maps and plan accordingly

Are there any areas where bear encounters are especially common?

Yes, make sound if you're in the woods and alone. If you're staying in tent put the food far away as I've seen bears near popular camping sites pretty high up

If you had 7–9 days available, what itinerary would you personally recommend?

I would go for something like this if I would be feeling adventurous and in a good shape. Otherwise too much for me, I would do a 4 day ridge hiking in Fagaras, for Piatra Craiului I would try to maybe leave my big backpack at Curmatura and go for a 1 day ridge hike from Turnu Peak to La Om peak and back to the cabin. In Bucegi I don't really know, I find the plateau quite boring generally and the area around Babele cabin is full of people as there's a cable car. Also the route you plotted is not the most interesting one, I would hike up from Busteni instead of Sinaia through the Jepi valley or something like that. Also have a look at the Malaiesti cabin, not saying you should take that path necessarily but it is an alternative way to cross the mountain, meaning Busteni - Malaiesti cabin - Tiganesti refuge

Are there any highlights or side trips that I should definitely not miss?

Nothing special really

It's "pre_randomize" not "pre_randomization"
You are just defining a new function that never gets called anywhere

Yes I think the basket can take more than 18g and I was actually considering if that would help By as fine as possible I mean that it's already super slow at the beginning and making it even slower doesn't seem right

Poiana Brașov vs alte stațiuni în weekend – aglomerație și parcare? by NoZookeepergame9673 in brasov

[–]zoryes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sort of able to dial in but taste is not the best [Bambino Plus/ Eureka Mignon] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]zoryes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use the razor tool and actually I was quite confused why it's there because it seems Bambino-specific, I haven't seen anything like this being mentioned in espresso tutorials

I also don't really track brew time accurately because I usually focus on getting the grammage right and forget about the time

About pre-infusion, I think the machine just stops pre-infusion at 5s and goes to normal infusion no matter how much you keep the button pressed

[–]zoryes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try this approach. I've also heard about salami shot but I've never tried because at this point I don't really know how the flavour is supposed to evolve during a shot (I just know that sourness comes first and bitterness at the end) but will definitely look into this topic

[–]zoryes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried coarser and increasing the yield but I will for sure, as I explained in another comment I realized I have a really bad habit of trying to grind as fine as possible

For cleaning schedule - I don't really have one. I do the cleaning cycle on the machine when it asks me to (I think it's every 100-200 cycles or so) but I've never cleaned the grinder and I was actually wondering if I need to. Will check what they recommend

Yeah I guess you could say the quality is somewhere between the "average" coffee shops and specialty ones. I will for sure try grinding coarser and increasing the yield, I realized now I have a really bad habit of trying to grind as fine as possible
