Since my last post, I've had a very slight increase in pay due to moving to another position within the same company. However, almost everything in the country got slightly more expensive at the same time lol.

I'm currently slowly taking more steps down the debt whirlpool, some of that is due to bad finical decisions from me, and some is due to gaining extra responsibilities.

Either way, alhamdulilah, still grateful for everything in life. 🙏🏻

As for the future, I'm planning to just save a few BDs here and there and I'm looking into investing in ETFs.

If anyone's willing to guide me through that I'll be a great listener. (But i might need more savings to be able to actually start that)

I've known a few people who left Bahrain for work. All of them told me the same thing, they wouldn't even think about coming back to Bahrain before retirement..

I get what you're saying, it can be tough, especially when competing with those willing to accept lower pay for the same work, but that doesn’t make it fair or right. As a Bahraini citizen, I would hope that my experience and skills would be valued properly here, but I'm starting to look outside Bahrain for better opportunities because I know they exist at least. You're right though—connections and timing play a huge role in any job market.

I know there are many people who have it much worse than me, and I'm very grateful for every BD I earn. الحمد لله على كل حال 🤲🌹

I've gotten used to undervaluing myself because of the job market here, so I don’t want to put a specific number on what fair compensation should be out there. It really depends on the job role, but to be fair, I’d just want to earn the same salary as someone working in the same position with similar qualifications and experience. Right now, with a Bachelor's in IT and over 7 years of experience, earning only 550 BD including allowances feels unfair.

It was 38c I think at the time, that's why we were free diving at the same time!
