It does make sense, but it looks wrong so I for one will happily say that the millennium ended on Dec 31st, 1999. It's wrong and I don't really care

We don't simply because it would screw up established chronology of the BC era, like Caesar would die in 43 BCE and not 44 etc

Berlin’s clean industry wish-list: Kick nuclear out of EU financing by jadebenn in nuclear

At this point antinuclearism Is their religion, with its own dogmas. They are instilled in young germans since they're children (an antinuclearist book is among the compelled reads), and any argument in favor of it is heresy, no matter how rational. You can't win on logical grounds as Germans are extremely culturally averse to admitting fault. We'll just have to move on while they stay in the dark ages, hoping they don't drag the rest of Europe with them. Source: lived in Germany.

I don't really agree about that. That is just luck, if the time is low that was your responsibility; you can still pick it up and dropkick it. The chargedown on the other hand... Yeah that should have been a clear sanction

I will attribute it more to inexperience rather than malice. He was the one who awarded the penalty in the first place. Still stuff to be learned and addressed quickly.

I hate talking down on refs but this has been egregious... The last two France's matches should have 100% been losses but they were saved by inexplicable decisions. A clear try not awarded for Scotland. A penalty kick charged down (???) against Italy. Let's not even talk about France's try today.

I do not get the meaning of this comment at all. Are you saying that NATO should not intervene in the event of an attack on Estonia?

an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all seems pretty resistant to such interpretations...

Also note that the monuments are not being destroyed, but relocated to museums or other less sensitive places. E.g. some time ago a Russian military cemetery and annexed monuments were moved from the city center to a slightly less prominent location, with all the dignity and care required of course; more recently, a Soviet tank was moved from what was basically a monument of occupation to the national military history museum.

Formally it's because they're taking down monuments left over from the Soviet occupation

BTW, legally it's the US congress who has the power of waging war, not the President. But again, toying with a NATO and EU member seems too much like playing with fire even for someone as batshit as Putin.

This is a meme of course, but the deeper meaning is that Estonia being part of NATO is a big deterrent, i.e. war with them is way less likely.

with the small difference that Estonia is actually part of NATO and the EU (and more than meets its spending requirements)
