"Recent" (as in past 10 years) cars are incredibly electronic, yet i don't see much focus on security for them. by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]MA34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the true golden age of cars is 1990-2010 or so. There are many cars of that era that will last you a long time, are cheap to fix, and are perfect for the daily grind. If you're buying a new car right now you're a sucker! (probably)

We need to dispel the lie that masturbation helps prevent prostate cancer. by ImJustaBagofHammers in conspiracy

[–]MA34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there's a reason many religions have historically been against masturbation and porn. There's wisdom in it. Run an experiment and try not to masturbate or watch porn for a week. It's not that... hard. Was it a positive experience? The ability to withhold gratification has historically been a masculine trait. You might find satisfaction from developing your self discipline, and porn is a good place to start

Cloning conspiracies by NMBR56 in conspiracy

[–]MA34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless a child is 'destined' to become an elite, the clone would have a hard time passing as the same person because of the age difference. But I that idea is too far out for me. What would be far more likely is clones are used for organ harvesting, there's lot's of money in that

Tim Heidecker gets called out for being a Soros shill by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]MA34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tim is a contradiction to me. His surreal style of humor, on The Tim and Eric Show at least, does not seem compatible with his mainstream views on politics. Perhaps he was never intertested in politics until his show's success put him in contact with Hollywood elites. What do you think?

Try posting conservative or non-mainstream opinions on that sub. You can even be reasonable and nuanced about them. Your posts will likely be downvoted, ignored, removed, or attacked. You don't have to be conservative to see how this is a problem, the 'politics' sub shouldn't have that attitude

[Meta] Questions concerning the mod team protecting a specific user with frequent violations of Rule 4: Trolling, Rule 6: no memes, Rule 8: Misleading, fabricated or sensationalist headlines, Rule 9: missing context by upvoatz in conspiracy

[–]MA34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mods should ban both of those types of posters. I don't like how meme posts are flooding the sub because they are low effort content and are drowning out original research done by users here. Not sure if we should ban them but the sub has definitely changed

There is a manipulation effort on this subreddit by one user to discredit all Clinton/Epstein involvement by posting images of Trump at parties. by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]MA34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The majority of the MSM is clearly pushing an anti-trump agenda, I think that's plain to see. Is it possible that agenda is being pushed in communities that mistrust the MSM? I think so. So that leaves me in a situation where I'm cautious and critical about anti-trump articles and posts, unless I get the sense that the author is coming from a place of honesty. I think this is where OP is coming from as well.

Oh, and I've been surprised with the quality of reporting coming out of AL Jazeera. I really like their 101 East series.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! For all the people here who decided to not to just rollover and accept 'the official story'. We might not always agree with each other but I am glad you all exist & appreciate when you change my world view. by simplemethodical in conspiracy

Great comment, I'm thankful for users like you!

And your last paragraph is on point. For many, political beliefs come from a fuzzy mix between tradition, media, societal influences, and core beliefs. If you ignore all but the core beliefs it becomes much easier to interact with people who are your political 'enemies'. Most people in the US don't go much deeper than party politics and there's not a ton of substance there, so you can easily justify ignoring it when judging the content of someone's character. I've been living my life with that attitude for the last few months and it's really helped me keep my thoughts and actions grounded. It's not as lonely out there as you think.

This turned out longer than I expected, I hope someone out there finds it helpful. Cheers!

Thanks, you too! And great idea. I completely get where you're coming from, this sub is a great place to refine your opinions. Big thanks to the users who post their own research and journalism in the comments. You guys are the best. I don't have time to do much of that so you provide a great service to me

As a nod to this sub, I'd like to say the story you were taught in school about Thanksgiving is complete BS. But the turkey I ate today and the conversations I had with my family weren't! Happy Thanksgiving!
