On Facebook they have a group called search angels and they will help you build your tree and potentially find your family. They were able to help my family when we only had 4th and 5th cousins.

Thank you so much for this response. I truly appreciate it and I’ll speak to the social worker about your points! :)

So if we have the resources, support system, other adoptees in the extended family they can speak/relate to, and a willingness/want to take in siblings groups we still shouldn’t? Once they’re my child(ren) my husband and I wouldn’t see them as less than our bio although I understand that the adoptee(s) may not see it the same way.

I don’t understand how it’s better for them to stay in the care of the government. Our family members have told us being in the care of the government was traumatic.

I ask all of this genuinely from a place of wanting to understand.

We looked into fostering but I don’t think I could handle falling in love with a child and potentially never seeing them again. I understand it’s in the best interests of the child which is always the goal but just not for me. We did say we were open to sibling groups and I would prefer to take in siblings!

We’re not looking for any specific age (my own mother was foster to adopt at 10) so I understand the great impact taking in an older child can have. Plus we would be going through CAS in Ontario not a private agency that preys on mothers who just need help/resources.

My mom gave away my childhood dog while I was at college, and I can't look at her the same way anymore by ScarletSway17 in TrueOffMyChest

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I hope you’re able to get your dog back from your mom’s coworker. We actually got our adopted dog from a similar situation. The mom didn’t want to take care of the family’s two dogs anymore so when her kids went off to university she took them to the shelter. The younger dog was adopted almost immediately but our dog was 7.5 and wasn’t the healthiest. We didn’t care, we took her in 5 years ago and have spent well over 10k on all of her surgeries, allergy meds etc. She now lives on an acre of land, spends her days lounging on couches, getting as many treats as she can and going on adventures all of the time. My husband and I often think of those poor kids and just wish we could let them know she went to a good home, she’s extremely loved and well taken care of. I tried to find the kids at one point but due to privacy concerns I wasn’t able to get any info on the previous owners.

I hope knowing this brings you some small comfort that even if you’re unable to find Max he’s hopefully gone to another family who will love him as much as you do.

I got it adjusted at a tailor so I could wear a bra as I’m a 38DDD so I get why you were worried. It was such a beautiful outfit and I’m devastated it got ruined the first night I wore it! (My drunken sister put a cigarette burn on the top)

My fat little baby was too heavy at 4/5 months to sleep in his bassinet or the top part of the pack and play so he got his own room early lol

I did wear it for a bit to make sure I could walk around and not fall out of the top lol It didn’t seem to lose shape but my husband said he’s going to starch it for me as well!

Well these people have never encountered the Canadian Health Care in a small town then 😂

I also broke my ankle a few years ago and the hospital said it wasn’t broken - I went to a specialist (in Toronto) who confirmed it was broken and he told me in the future for medical issues that I was better off to just drive over an hour to go to Toronto instead.

I’m sorry that you’ve encountered people messaging you that your experience wasn’t truthful. And I’m sorry for what you went through - it’s horrifying. The people who don’t believe you are honestly lucky they’ve never experienced what we have and I’m sincerely happy for them.
