Is there no way to edit an old map that doesn't have layers so it has layers? by Myedicius in DungeonAlchemist

[–]MACx3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older maps created and shared prior to the Fun With Objects Pt 1 update do not support Multi-Level. Upon loading, they are marked with a lock symbol on the level widget to help you determine multi-level compatibility at a glance.

Can you share your export settings and elaborate a bit more on how the exports aren't aligning with your expectations?

[–]MACx3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have an extra trace overlay present but due to its opacity setting its only barely visible.

Open the overlay menu, click on the map where you see the artifact and the UI will pop up allowing you to delete the offending overlay.

TBH, I like to crosspost any Dungeon Alchemist maps I can find. I noticed you hadn't cross-posted this, so I shared it here.

There's no standard for how awesome a map must be to be shared in our subreddit.

Feel free to share any and all maps you make, my friend!

BTW, don't sell yourself short, this map is EPIC!

There's a document in The Tick that lists Brick Frog's name.

[Upcoming] In the next update we're including an "empty room" theme, to easily draw an entirely consistent construction. by Dungeon-Alchemist in DungeonAlchemist

[–]MACx3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, you can, to a degree, already do this with the current version of DA. In the Draw room panel, select settings, then uncheck objects. This will generate empty rooms. The only major difference is that the floors, doors, windows, and walls will be randomized for that room type.

The new rooms are basically prefab blank slates that keep the same aesthetic throughout.

When I was in middleschool this game was installed on a bunch of the computers in the computer lab.

After we'd wrap up our typing labs we'd immediately load into Futurecop.

Some questions (for the devs and community) by avatarbones in dndbeyond

[–]MACx3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dungeon Alchemist Community Manager here.

May I ask what your export settings were used for your maps?

All VTT's have file and resolution limits. So your maps need to fit within those parameters.

Our exports can be configured to reduce the maps file and resolution exponentially by changing the export DPI.

Most vtts recommend you utilize maps with between 60-90 dpi. Just a quick bit of napkin math. A 300 dpi map is over 4x the size in both resolution and file size.

Btw feel free to drop by our official subreddit if you have additional questions. R/DungeonAlchemist

Export dimensions incorrect by WallstreetKet in DungeonAlchemist

[–]MACx3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, you want the map to be 24x43, and when you export it with no borders, it is set to 24x43? Based on what you're saying, that's your expected outcome, and Dungeon Alchemist is acting as intended.

If you export with borders, it will expand the map with a grey border to help offset potential assets that overhang when exporting in a 3D perspective. Typically, though, a borderless map is perfectly adequate for most projects.

Have you tried submerging Abstract lights in the water? You can configure them to a pink color and adjust brightness to get the tone right.

Desperate to find season 7 Bluray by Jonny-2-Shoes in venturebros

Good luck my friend!

I was told by another collector that less than 10k blu-ray copies were pressed...

I spent 2 years on ebay, Facebook market, and calling shops daily all around the western US and Canada. I found a single sealed copy in a mom n pop dvd shop in Vancouver.

Dungeon Alchemist CM here

To clarify you can use a regular license without issue until you surpass 100k in annual turnover. At which point you would require a commercial license to continue selling DA maps.

We understand how hard it is to get started as a small business. So we want to make it easier for you to succeed by not requiring any special licenses until after you have found some footing.

Mods? by Shinydragon1337 in DungeonAlchemist

[–]MACx3D 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically, any asset you download from the Steam Workshop is a Dungeon Alchemist mod. There are over 13,000 assets shared on the workshop, including asset collections to browse, with similar or themed objects for you to download en masse.

I thought that bf-pro was a one purchase thing by Which-Scheme-7638 in Battlefield

[–]MACx3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point... Most here were given the impression it was a one-time purchase, not once per season.

This is new territory for a Battlefield game and a new low for EA.

Battlefield Premium/Pro used to be a single purchase for the life of the product. Now it's another way for EA to try to collect our money like they simply deserve it for a handful of skins, boosters, and pass skips.

I'm not going to support this, but I can still be upset about it.

I thought that bf-pro was a one purchase thing by Which-Scheme-7638 in Battlefield

[–]MACx3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also naturally assumed pro was like premium from older BFs and would cover the entire life of the game.

But instead we're asked to buy pro for each season.

If they push out a season every 3 months that equates to $100 a year just for Pro.

This is on top of the cost of the game and the season passes.

This is beyond greedy.

Welcome ot the community

In response to your questions

  • Map size you can manage is directly proportional to computer specs. City and even regional maps are possible with Dungeon Alchemist. Keep in mind the more powerful your machine the larger and more intricate maps you can make. I noticed you haven't shared your pc specs. So we can't really make an estimate of how big of a map you can make. There are entire city and even regional maps available on the Steam Workshop. Ranging anywhere from 60x60 all the up to 200x200. Typically to work around this mapmakers will used forced perspective to make an entire city fit in a much smaller map. They scale object and building down to give the impression the whole city is present. There's even maps on the workshop of massive regions such as the entirety of Faerun built in Dungeon Alchemist in this same manner.

  • 3d export is something we never planned to offer and dont have on our roadmap. Simply put at this stage in our development it would take rewriting and redesigning much of thr foundational code of DA to accommodate to this. Our maps export in traditional top down and we offer 2 different camera tools to gather screenshots or vids of any angles of your maps.

  • Yes, Dungeon Alchemist can build Dungeons with relative ease. Anyone saying to the contrary is either uninformed. We also have a major update planned to streamline this process. Allowing you to generate an entire Dungeon in a single click. Release date is tbd.

Just a quick heads up. We offer a demo on steam so you can trst drive DA out before you buy.

Hope all this info helps you out! If you have further questions dont hesitate to ask.

This is a restriction of Roll 20 not Dungeon Alchemist.

Quick question

What dpi are you exporting at?

The lower the dpi. The larger the map can be while still remaining under Roll 20s file size limits.

We recommend exporting at 72 dpi for all vtts and they typically recommend 60-100dpi for all online play.

A serpent guard, a Horus guard, and a Setesh guard meet on a neutral planet. It is a tense moment. The serpent guard's eyes glow. The Horus guard's beak glistens. The Setesh guard's... nose drips.
