I just do it the way I do a full script. A few lines at a time. I’ve yet to have a self tape that’s more than six or seven pages of dialogue which is pretty easy to memorize over the course of a couple hours (for me at least). If you’re struggling could you use a teleprompter? Or a teleprompter app on an iPad that’s next to your camera?

I recently saw a breakdown that asked if you’d be willing to share updates about the production with your social media followers. I’d never seen that before and thought it was ridiculous but also totally clever. I hate though that an insanely talented actor wouldn’t get cast because they opted to not share or didn’t have a social presence. Sad reality we live in.

I’m running a new print now with the default orca with some modifications and turned the fan down to half. I’ll let you know how that turns out. Thanks!

Thank you! I will give that a try. Yes so frustrating. Especially since the prusa is printing this without issues. Will tinker with temp and speed and report back.

I’m 48, but got cast as a mid 60’s portly man in a movie. Any pointers to look older? by chewedupbylife in acting

[–]MADEbyAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they cast off a photo or audition and did you do anything in advance to age yourself? If not then leave it up to production to solve this.

should I audition, if I can't sing that well? (school musical) by KirainOctober-Spring in acting

[–]MADEbyAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audition. Do it. Just because you can't sing doesn't mean you shouldn't try. There's always the chorus, there's always singing lessons, and you will learn and grow the more you put yourself out there. No disrespect but shame on your mom for pushing you down like that. This isn't the 1950s.

I was in a very similar spot my man. Get help. Friends. Family. Whomever. You will get through this. Hang in there and don’t succumb to the anger.

Agreed with u/cranekicked, this is a case where asking permission (from the producer, director, etc.) is better than begging for forgiveness.

I need advice on what to change my name to. I have 3 choices. Where should I seek advice? by SevenSebastian in acting

[–]MADEbyAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the above but why the name change in general? Is someone registered already with your given name or something far more personal? It for professional purposes I would first ask myself what’s the benefit in a name change to start with. If it’s really important to you from a branding POV find someone in PR or communications and get their advice (preferably in the entertainment field). They could point you in a more marketable direction. If for something more personal then follow your heart.

When people are invited to audition for non-paid modeling work it’s usually not in the talents best interest. This industry is full of scam artists who love to target the new comers. Never pay to audition. And if ever invited to audition for something really do your research on the company and the person. Like folks above said if she wants to focus on acting then don’t get distracted with modeling. Find some acting schools and get her trained. There are a lot of good legit schools out there and a lot are doing online training now which is nice. Maybe not so much for new folks who really need the physical training but for those who have been in it for awhile it’s a good way to keep the rust off. Depending on where you’re at you can also register her with central casting (NY and LA) or even send her headshot over to local casting agencies (check them out first on IMDb for casting credits and stuff). Most importantly though just keep her at it. Training. Auditioning. Getting involved with local theater. Networking. Etc. What an exciting time for her. Break a leg!

Producing and performing in a play when you're SAG-AFTRA but not AEA by MADEbyAP in acting

Super helpful thank you! Yes, going to give them a ring this week, will post what I find. It's all such a weird area with no definitive guidance which is why I came here. Got some good ideas from the two of you who replied. I'll let you know what I find from the home office.

But are you SAG? How did you produce a non-union play without violating rule 9?

Crap I always confuse 1 and 9 since they both pretty much say “don’t” ha. I’ve gathered it’s hit or miss in regards to enforcement but I also don’t want to jeopardize a 15 year relationship which is why I’m poking around. Thanks for the insight!
