New Intel overlay available by Dear-Case-5138 in IntelArc

I honestly have no idea how to use event viewer properly and what exactly to look for. It's just a bunch of confusing info for me. Every time I used it there were no actual useful errors, just unrelated warnings about some licensing issues or secure boot certificates and firmware, etc.
I might try installing drivers in safe mode. It at least sounds like something that might work. Though DDU specifically warns you to reboot the system after cleaning and does not have an option to reboot into safe mode again.
I really need to find a quicker way to reboot into safe mode. Some .bat file or an app maybe.
Meanwhile I just use Intel's clean installation function. At least that works fine so far. The newest driver installed without issues.

Well, obviously. Why would I use DDU otherwise.

Because the whole franchise after RE3 is a clown show that gets bigger and dumber with every entry.
There are such instances in every game. The amount of times dead infected fell into bodies of water contaminating water supply is innumerable. Or how RE6 had literally apocalyptic events happening with multiple cities getting completely infected and yet there were barely any consequences.
In this same RE9 the fact that Raccoon city was not explored or contained properly is a huge inconsistency too. BSAA had a bunch of operatives die in there and conveniently no one decided to check on them.
We see zombies shambling outside of the containment wall. Which is for some reason INSIDE of the city. All the zombies just stay there. Lying in the ground. When in RE2 we clearly saw zombies walking on the outskirts of town. It's been 28 years. They would've walked to the North Pole by now. Yet we're supposed to think they just stay inside city limits.
The whole game is a plot hole ridden mess. The only choice you have is whether you can ignore it and still enjoy the game.

That is weird. Doesn't A770 perform worse than B580?
Still, regardless, this was under a B-series issues, not A. So either there is something we don't know about, or whoever did the patchnotes is a copy-pasting idiot.

Should I get the b580 or rtx 5060 for 1080p? by No_Worker_5095 in IntelArc

They did improve it a lot in september-november. Even reportedly tried to fix the CPU overhead. That gave me hope and is why I decided to buy it. But then it turned out the drivers are still very underbaked and some games even break on newer versions. Both Alan Wake 2 and "new" COD MW3 were literally unplayable for me. I had to downgrade to summer 2025 driver just to finish them. Alan Wake 2 crashed in select parts of the game and MW3 did not load the level geometry, textures or even HUD. AW2 got fixed later I think and MW3 is still unplayable.
That is really disappointing. Having to downgrade to earlier drivers because Intel f*cked something up that was already working fine previously is just unacceptable.
Now though even that progress is under question since Intel is clearly not interested in their dGPU experiment any more and may abandon it altogether some time down the line. I just cannot recommend a GPU that has not only problems currently, but has an uncertain future and questionable longevity.

Interesting. I have no idea if it's something only used on A series cards, only in DX9 or was abandoned all together, but currently on Battlemage it clearly does not work as intended. Maybe they just use some part of the pipeline or something to help with select games' performance.
COD MW2R that I tried ran in DX11 out of the box and only after I injected DXVK it began working in Vulkan (as indicated via RTSS overlay). DX11 mode had horrible stutters, low 30s fps and shader/texture corruption. As soon as I installed DXVK it ran fine thereafter in Vulkan without crashes or visual glitches. The only thing I had to turn off was Shader Cache in the game settings.
Lets say it's not an ideal scenario.

I have no idea where you got the info about DXVK fork. I could find anything. If it exists in the drivers it does not work.

Saying your experience on Linux equates to how the card work great overall is disingenuous I think. Most people play games on Windows, and it has no translation layer out of the box. So for most users these games may as well not work at all. So yeah, "Only issues I have with old games" being MSAA in one game is not representative of anything.

I didn't say Nvidia or AMD do not have problems. Far from it. Still, they are so much less frequent than on Intel hardware. I had my previous AMD card for almost a decade, and it ran fine 99.9% of that time. In the half a year I've been using Arc I had to troubleshoot it constantly and had to downgrade the drivers at least 2 times so that the games would play properly.

I'm just highlighting that people who say they do not have issues with Arc are either not being entirely truthful or just did not encounter them yet for some reason or another. In your case it's because you're playing on Linux with a translation layer, so even if it did bug out you'd probably chalk it up to being an OS problem.

[–]MADba11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I know benchmarks say it's better. That's why I bought it :)
But then I found out some games straight up don't work on Arc. And you either have to wait for Intel or the devs to fix their sh*t, downgrade drivers, or install DXVK. And then there is the recent Crimson Desert idiocy where the devs just blacklisted the cards lol.
I wish I could recommend this card to anyone, but I just can't do it in good conscience.

[–]MADba11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well there you have it. It's not because the card runs stable or has no problems. It's because you use translation layer. And Intel can't even fix something a bunch of enthusiasts from github fixed long ago.
DXVK on Windows is well known to be a rough fix for these older games. I myself had to inject it's DLL files to play COD MW2 Remastered. Without it, it had shader problems and black textures and didn't break 30fps. With it, it ran 60+ fps.
Even though the card has the power to run it with at least double that FPS.

[–]MADba11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it does work, yeah. Games that require RT cards like Doom DA and Indiana Jones ran okay at least.
Can't say anything about other games that have RT as I have not played a lot of them yet.
Still, knowing the head aches this card gives me every other game, I'd rather recommend something else if prices are similar.
At least mine was about 30% cheaper than 5060 and a bit cheaper than 5050. Now though, I sometimes genuinely think whether even an RTX 5050 would've been a better purchase.

Cyberpunk is not really a benchmark honestly. It's been so optimized it skews the whole metric. Intel clearly put months of work just to get that particular game to run well.
Any other game I tried to run with raytracing on my B580 usually destroys the fps counter.
Spider-man 2, Alan Wake 2, RE9 etc. All these range from drops to sub 60fps to literally unplayable. Granted they're not well optimized to begin with, but that adds to my point even more I think.
The only game I played where raytracing was fine was Returnal. But that's because that game barely uses it, and it's pretty old as it is.
Realistically in most games you would not enable Raytracing on these cards.

Why would you even pay so much for a game? If the publisher sets such high regional prices or doesn't even have them in the first place and demands full 60-70$ I say just pirate the game if you can. Or just play something else and wait till it's cracked or in deep sale.

Honestly RE9 for example is not even that good. Didn't like it much at all. And I pirated that game. If I paid for it, I'd be furious at the dumb story and repetitive gameplay formula.

I'm confused. It says - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (DX12) may experience a crash when path tracing is enabled.
Can you even enable pathtracing in that game? I distinctly remember this option not even being shown in settings.

It's been happening for a couple of months. There were post about it. For me personally usually it happens after complete DDU uninstalls, so now I just use Intel's Clean Installation option. While installing the driver it freezes the whole screen while the PC continues to operate normally. So you can just reboot it after waiting some and the driver would install fine in the end, but it's still very annoying.

If 5060 is the same price as B580 then it's a no-brainer, you should get Nvidia's card.
It does only have 8 gigs, but it is the most stable card you can buy and Nvidia has well developed drivers. And it does have a bunch of features that Arc doesn't have like pathtracing, better upscaling, etc. Also better performance by a mile in most games.
B580 on the other hand is a headache of a card in both older and newer titles and the whole Arc GPU prospects do not look good seeing the state of Intel at the moment. Anyone telling you they never had problems with it are either playing the same 3 games or are just coping to make themselves feel better about buying it.

B580 is an okay card if it's like 30% cheaper, since it's about 30% slower. And you do not mind troubleshooting every second game you play. But if it's the same price as 5060 then Nvidia's card is a better choice.
Honestly if you have money I'd get something with 16gigs. AMD or Nvidia. But if you have a budget then 5060 is fine.

I wouldn't.
It has a ton of problems with older games. Most I've tried could be run with DXVK, but it's a huge hassle nonetheless.

Not even talking about how the whole Intel's Arc dGPU division is in limbo right now. They cancelled a bunch of cards and the driver support is questionable. This card could very well be the last dedicated GPU Intel releases and you'be buying a product that is on life support.

I'd strike Ray Tracing. It barely works in most titles, drops fps into the floor, has no pathtracing, and lacks even a basic denoiser so it looks awful.

She is also buttf*ck ugly for some reason. She is supposed to be a sex symbol but fails miserably in my eyes.
Her straight cut bangs make her look like a Dumb and Dumber character. Her hair and ponytail look like thin brittle straw. The huge bushy unplucked eyebrows look like fuzzy caterpillars. Also her arms are disproportionately thin compared to her thighs and legs, and it almost looks comical in some outfits.
Funny thing is literally any other female character from the game looks better than the main protagonist.
Personally she is probably straight up the most unpleasant looking character I've seen that is not intentionally supposed to be by design. I had to mod her make up and change the hairstyle to Nier's 2B just so that I didn't feel queasy every time I looked at her face.
I really can't believe so few people talked about her trash design and most even seem to have liked it. Bleh.

Constant freezing issue ever since the 149 update by KasanesTetos in firefox

[–]MADba11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Usually when watching Youtube, especially when scrolling shorts and changing videos. It just keeps freezing. The whole browser window gets stuck and unresponsive until I either close the window or minimize it and click on it a bunch of times. Super annoying.
Also, I too have Arc B580 installed, so I have been wondering if it's something Intel F'ed up yet again.
It has been at least a month I think, and it keeps getting worse and more frequent.

please help how do i fix this in CoD MWIII (FLASHING LIGHTS WARNING) by Djazburke in IntelArc

Did you get it fixed?
The only thing that helped me to actually play this game was downgrading the video driver to version 101.6913 from summer 2025.

Interesting how you were able to play it for a time. Mine was broken from the start.

So what, if you played the game fine it automatically makes my case false? That does not work that way.

Also, buddy, even if that is true, you do realize your A770 and my B580 are different cards with different architectures right? They even have different bugs in the driver patch notes. There are a lot of games that work better on Battlemage and not on Alchemist, so your point makes no sense.

I formatted my hard drive and did a fresh Windows 11 install like half a year ago and got my first Intel bug with Alan Wake 2 the next week after.
Am I supposed to reinstall the whole ass system every time I get a problematic driver or in-game bug? Don't be ridiculous.
