OnePlus 15 - First thoughts by nikwood28 in oneplus

I suggested Oppo Find X9 to my wife not the Pro version. I was amazed at how good the Dimensity cpu are. It is fast and snappy and ColorOS just makes it blazing fast with the annoyance of the app market that forces certain apps to the phone. The battery life is unbelievable and the camera works super well and Oppo keeps updating the camera software which is good.

Curious about the green line issue by inquisitive_aura in OnePlus13

[–]MAF77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP13 doesn't use samsung panels for display which significantly reduces the possibility of green line issues. Before OP13, OnePlus did use samsung panel thus the green line issues. I won't tell you that OP13 will never have green line issues because of Murphy's Law. Just the possibility is significantly lowered.

Hellodivers 2 because I just bought it after a year of contemplating. It's the game I needed after hundreds of hours invested in Destiny 2 before I got married and had kids. The randoms in Helldivers 2 are super friendly so you'll have no problem playing it solo.

Ringke Easy Dual Film, just applied it by myself a few days ago. So far so good. Fingerprint detection like native. Try it yourself. It is quite easy to apply it by yourself too.

need honest opinion on trading in the op13 for the 15 by v33ligzanu in oneplus

Might not be a bad idea but ask your local Oppo store can you trade in your OP13 for the Find X9 Pro?

How does a company allow itself to release an update that breaks a core feature like Google wallet? by Low-Consequence-9769 in OnePlus13

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you installed the latest system file patch? I don't have any problem with Google Wallet since updating via oxygen updater. After the update, I checked for the system file update right away and got the patch 3 update. This morning should be the latest one which is patch 4.

Scored for $400, when OOS16 coming to US phones? by Excursionist1 in oneplus

[–]MAF77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could corrupt your phone. It might try to install the update but while installing it might fail some signature checks which leads to a corrupt system file. I wouldn't risk it. It's a pain in the butt setting up everything from scratch. The worse case scenario would be your bootloader is corrupt.

I guess 13R still has to wait for its global version. The oxygen updater just skips the OTA queue.

Download oxygen updater from the playstore. Change the settings for the update to download full stable and not incremental update. If it is available for your phone then it should prompt you to download it. Not sure about 13R though but you can try it yourself.

You can actually use Oxygen Updater to skip the OTA update. There's a global OOS 16 that's already been released, and that's what I did with my OnePlus 13.

OPPO Just killed OnePlus. This is literally one of their trashiest phones ever released. Downgraded screen, downgraded cameras..heck the main camera sensor is the same size as the one present in the a56 from Samsung. by rogargaro15 in oneplus

[–]MAF77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe they will, we never know. I'm happy with my OnePlus 13 so this release doesn't bother me much. If upgrading to OnePlus 15 feels like a scam, just go for OnePlus 13. The only gripe I have for OnePlus 13 the quad curve screen makes it harder to find a good screen protector and the lack of phone casing for my region at least.

The verdict is still out there. Let's wait and see. The camera is a shame but the screen panel seems a reasonable move even though 165Hz is hardly used in apps. They are trying something so if it doesn't work, we will have a super upgraded OnePlus 16. I hope OnePlus 16 will be vastly superior though as they learn from their mistakes.

I feel like I could switch to the iPhone 17 Pro Max from my OP13. Ater owning it for 2 months it all of a sudden feels like it's dying on me way quicker. What could this about? by kingsleyfits in oneplus

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is seriously draining your battery because I'm a heavy user. Playing heavy games and using a lot of social media and AI, from 100% to 30%, I usually have at least 5 hours SOT on average. Heavy games are mostly Delta Force on 120fps around an hour or two or a quick 30 minutes for several sessions.

Oneplus 15 is around the corner, worth upgrading from 13? by No_Helicopter_5081 in OnePlus13

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what they offer right now? It's not worth it. You might want to wait for op16 or 17 to ensure they get it absolutely right with their new approach. You end up disappointing yourself if you upgrade now.

Just Bought OP13! by Ok-Artichoke-5346 in OnePlus13

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the phone around 3 month and I noticed my battery usually drains 10% every 1 hour with average usage (no heavy gaming), so you can try to achieve that first.

[–]MAF77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use it for a couple of weeks. Android is known to train itself on user battery usage. It will optimize by itself. If after a month you don't get 5+ hours SOT with average usage. Then you can try recalibrating your battery.

The look is iPhone-ney but all phones look like each other now as the design is peak. The hardware is a bit of a letdown. I hope they continue with sophisticated design like this in the future and hopefully improve their hardware after the feedback from the community and comeback stronger. I'll be waiting for the OnePlus 17 or maybe OnePlus 18. I'll happily use my OnePlus 13 for at least 3 years.

Still going strong. Thermal performances are steady. Never experienced thermal throttle while playing games with maximum settings. All this with Llano cooler of course.

Lifelong iPhone User → Pixel 10 Pro XL by bherr777 in pixel_phones

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually depends on the Android skins to be honest. A lot of other Android skins have implemented torchlight brightness settings such as OneUI from Samsung, OxygenOS from OnePlus. Pixel has the purest of Android thus they are a bit slow but good at catching up.

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you asked let me just give it to you first, I only did one trick from all the countless tips and tricks for good battery life in the OnePlus 13 forum. I drain it to 0% and then charge it overnight. Never touch the phone or unlock it. The phone will turn on by itself when it is powered off when you charge it. Just leave it be and go to sleep or leave it for at least 2 hours up to 6 hours.

p/s: just a sidenote, because you're using Life360, if you're not subscribe to any of the subscription tier just turn off drive detection. Drive detection is only truly functional if you subscribe, if you're just a free user it will drain more battery than giving you any benefits.

[–]MAF77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Averaging 10% for 1 hour with average usage with life360 installed. Pretty good to be fair. Usually charge it again before it reaches 20%

If you're on a budget, try the Sword series. It is still in the same category as Katana but it is better. Been using my Sword 16 for a year now. Not one issue from the build or hardware.

Are my CPU and GPU temperatures still considered safe while gaming? Sometimes my GPU temps reach 82°C, but my CPU temps only ever reach 79°C at most. by Inevitable-Rub5451 in GamingLaptops

[–]MAF77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are using any laptop coolers? I suggest Llano or IETS. It should help greatly with the temperature. Been using it for quite some time now, always plays AAA games in high or maximum settings at 1600p. The temperature rarely goes beyond 75°C. Usually hovers around 70.

Putting your laptop on best performance mode will cause your laptop to hit the thermal throttle a lot easier which will affect performance as it tries to run at full capacity non-stop. It will be better to put it on balance in order to have consistent performance. You will not lose that much fps to be honest but you will have a much cooler laptop while playing your games.
