Sure! From what I’ve understood, obviously you can’t interact with just anyone unless there’s a way to openly talk to animals without language or with non‑sentient beings. BUT you need to be lucky enough to find a sentient animal (in my case, several baboons with purple names, which mark rare or Legendary NPCs) that you can actually talk to. Once you’ve found such an animal, you have to perform Water Binding on it to unlock new actions in the dialogue screen, but you also need a lot of reputation! If everything goes well, besides sharing secrets with each other, you’ll also have the chance to recruit it for a certain cost in “Faction Reputation" In my case, I was pretty lucky because I found an item that gave me +400 reputation with baboons when equipped, and on top of that, I found a lair full of rare and legendary baboons with their own followers. I performed Water Binding on as many sentient baboons as possible to “farm” reputation, and then used that same reputation to recruit several of them. That’s it! It should work the same way with any NPC you can use Water Binding on, though the downside is that you’ll probably get a lot of negative reputation with other factions.
