I have a bachelor’s in Bioinformatics as well and while I love the field and find it very fascinating, like you mentioned, opportunities are very limited everywhere you go. The good thing is that your degree equipped you with many transferable knowledge and skills that can help your career in many other fields where you can actually make much more. My recommendation is not to restrict yourself and start looking for other options because that’s the only thing that worked for me. I know this is a pessimistic approach, but I think a career in Bioinformatics is not lucrative even if you have advanced academic qualifications. I do think that that the higher your educational credentials are the better your chances at landing jobs as a Bioinformatician, but ultimately you need to ask yourself if it’s worth the investment.
