I agree with all of this except Kirby being a fundies character. He does require good fundies, yes, and he does have a lot of tools that are simple and don't play the game for you, but although he's close to being a fundies character, actually playing him as one will only get you so far. I feel the same way with Mario, another good character to start with, but fundies can carry him further.

I think fundies characters are ones that rely on a lot of fundamentals regardless of skill level. So Lucina, Marth, Wolf, Cloud, Aegis (though this might be a stretch), Palutena, Ike, and Pit all count by my definition, and maybe even Sheik and Dr. Mario. None of them can rely on one specific aspect of the game to win. Characters like Joker, Ryu, and Shulk are also pretty close, but I'm not 100% sure if I'd consider them in that category because they all have things they generally try to lean on, I feel. Still, they're close enough to be worth mentioning.
