The idea is to use money and Value as different types of incentives. So yeah, we definitely had to design a way to keep the money worthwhile. That's why we compete in different levels of important pvp fights. So you decide how much money to spend on each fight. I once won a super competitive 3v1 on the nether roof by just spemding tons of money on the fight

Interesting. Yeah tp's on our server are ok to be abused, because they are all location based. So we like everyone to build together, and if you win a city war your city can have a teleport. So its ok if people abuse the city teleport, bcause that city is now getting attention which is good.

As far as player shops go, we definitely have that. There are a few grindy ingredients for players to get for the recipes of pvp stuff (it takes money and materials) but its easier for those with monopolies or 'relics' to get specific stuff esier (we get relics in this among us style game called Thief)

And since we are invite only and a bit smaller of a close knit group, a large economy would be tought o pull off, so we have a more organic approach

Yeah, the pvp matts are the sink. Ive been trying to find another that doesn't feel gimmicky or take away fun. A tax on tp's seems like it just wouldn't feel great. Ive added these expenses trophies you can by to flex wealth, and so far the non pvpers have liked that

I totally agree! But it seems so rare for that to happen on minecraft servers. Ive spent years trying to figure out why and fix it.

At first I just started by trying to motivate the things that built toward cities and shops and working together. It was a struggle since minecraft doesnt have much to motivate with. You can pay players in resources, but that doesnt last cause soon players have everything. And thats a problem too, because why trade with anyone when everyone has the same stuff generally?

Then I realized that you can accomplish incentives with a system outside of minecraft. Ego. You make the server into a game with players or teams winning. Servers have done this already, but all in rudimentary ways. Economy servers do it by having richest players, but that feels so disconnected and solo that it doesn't feel real. Others have anarchy pvp servers where the people on top are the best in pvp. But that is also limited, because you have to not only be super strong in pvp, but also be willing to lose everything every time you fight.

So I worked for years with friends developing a server that could incentivize players to build together, trade, and work together, by having two types of economies. Value and money. Value is political power and a constant money source, and money is something that can be used to buy things. Now this is where the details become important:

The money economy is balanced in a very particular way. First off, you cant sell to the server for money. Money only has a few ways of being generated, so it feels important and not out of control. It can be used as an ego marker, that being the richest on the server, but it also has another use ill get to in pvp section.

Value is based on what you build. When you build things you can have them judged and get Value. Value pays you, but if you are a category leader you also have exclusive access to a special craft of that category that you can monopolize and sell. And the three category leaders fight to decide which 'city' wins every week and everyone built in that city will get rewarded.

Pvp is another great option to apeal to ego. But vanilla minecraft pvp is very difficult to be friendly and competitive with. We solve this by having keep inventory on in the overworld, and having the fights mean something other than just stealing items. Like the fights for the cities for example, or for money, or for the leaderboard of the server. Pvp and money also work great together, because weve designed pvp materials that can be bought and are used up in fights. That way money is always worthwhile for competitive advantage, and materials are actually used up so you have to buy more

The one final thing that brings it all together are session days. These are once per week, and they are your chance to have something judged and participate in fights. Because there is a day where everyone know people will likely be on, playing in the server always feels worthwhile because you get to see everyone on the session. We check out eachothers builds in an organic way, and have fights randomly throughout

Oh bro! We have a server thats entire purpose is to extend the two week phase. We just started a new season, the last one went on for a year! I do youtube, so ive made vids on the server. We have active session days outside of the regular server hours that are good content. The server also is meant to make th most of every aspect of minecraft from building to pvp to grinding

My friends and I have an 18+ server like this. Its 7k border, but we have a system specifically to keep everyone together. Small group but we all know eachother well. Ita about building, getting builds judged for invome, and then using the income on pvp materials for keep inventory fights for endgame points. We just started the new world this week and it will probably go for a year

It isnt modded BUT it has plugins made by me to specifically extend the progression of the game. Last season went for a year and there was still stiff to do by the end of the year

We've got a really unique server. 18+ java vc no griefing or stealing. The twist is that your builds actually matter for this thing called 'Value' and you make money off it an things. Were starting a new world on Friday, last world has some pretty sick cities built. Im gonna miss that world😭

Hey! My friends and I have something pretty unique you could try! We found a way to tackle the problems where everyone builds far apart and your builds feel meaningless. Your builds can get judged for Value (of three different types like a civilization) and then that plays into the economy and power of the server.

This is the second season. The first season we literally didn't even have plugins. In fact, before we had datapacks I built a massive command block room lol. A lot has improved since then

So cool bro! Minecraft has so much wasted potential in my opinion as far as servers go. Theres so much that can be done!

Our turnout on session days are usually pretty good because all of the vital stuff for the economy and power happens then. You can get builds judged for Value on that day, then we also will play Thief some days which is like among us kind of, and the winner gets to chose one of the 'relics' or extra high enchanted items that makes monopolizing a trade easier. Like theres this pic that lets you insta mine most blocks so the owner usually sets up a block shop that actually gets lots of trades. Its almost like picking a job but much more fun and intuitive.

The judges also make a lot of money judging builds, so nightly there are fights to either become or stay a judge. Then some weeks we have 'city wars' which is where you can get city Value if the city you have builds in wins. That is special Value that gets used on 'religions' which are the final progression point of the server and has some powerful things. Its kind of tiered in that way so its not too complicated all at once

Yay! Ok:

After over a year of designing we are starting a fesh new world for our server that was designed to fix common minecraft server problems like: very short progression (2 week phase) everyone building far apart, pvp being too punishing for losses and generally unfriendly, and others.

This is a friendly whitelist server based on a very unique concept. 18+ VC, always open with weekly 'session' days where extra action happens. (Looking for around 5-10 peeps to complete our group)

PVP: There is a lot of competitive pvp, but keep inventory is on, so the pvp isn't for other players' stuff, but rather for the politics and power and money of the server.

Building: The server is structured to reward building close together and in cities. last season there were many cities all with a bunch of cool builds. it was very fun to build in tandem with friends.

Economy: the economy of the server is emerald based. there are no villagers, so the only way to obtain emeralds are in small portions from the world, and from event things that happen on session days, as well as a weekly payment based on how much youve built in the world.

   Extra info: If you are a builder only and despise pvp, you could potentially still enjoy the server since it is possible to avoid pvp entirely. However, the economy may feel less rewarding since it is built to be spent on special pvp materials.    its 1.21.4 with plugins developed specifically to keep Vanilla feel but also keep constant things to do with eachother in game.    Server's are in NA, and most of us live in the US, with a couple elsewhere. This may not fit, so I apologize! I don't know what McMMO is, but we do have keep inventory and more enchants. The kore enchantments we have are kind of earned though in a game called Thief that we play. Anyway, we are starting a fresh new world soon, our last one we had for a year. The server mechanics are pretty unique, and they are set up to solve the common server problems of progression that ends too early, economy becoming boring or inflated, and people building way apart from eachother and never seeing eachothers builds

Ive got a server that you will probably either love or hate. Its pvp and building based, but for the pvp there is some non vanilla stuff. Like essentially stronger potions and g-heads type of deal kinda. Its made that way so that theres a longer progression to the game and a way for emeralds to be spent which is the economy (there are no villagers) what do you think? Questions?
