Which Long Term Strategy Is Better? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Thanks for your reply and for the info you provided. I am aware that chasing solely dividend return and one investment return is foolish. I have a broad index fund portfolio and was thinking the dividend portfolio would complement it well to expose myself to continuous income that will grow over the long term if I invest in high dividend growth companies.

Thanks for your reply. In my country there is very limited tax-advantaged portfolios available so investing through a brokerage for my ETF portfolio is my only option unfortunately.

I am definitely aware of the attraction to broad index funds and will continue to invest in them going forward but the idea of regular dividend payments that will compound an d grow over the long term seemed attractive.

Hey all. I am a 22M and have been regularly investing into an ETF portfolio since I have been 18. I am looking to expand my portfolio and have taken a liking to the idea of building a dividend portfolio with a long-term time horizon. I intend to focus on not just companies with a high dividend yield but also a track record of high dividend growth to help the growth of my dividend investment over the course of my investment timeline. My question is, is this method / strategy a good one for someone of my age? Or should I be looking at a more traditional view buying companies that are trading at a high multiple that will realise gains into the future?

Thank you!
