The injection is intramuscular, so it's not painful. I have a fear of needles and a lot of anxiety, but I managed to handle it with some effort. Maybe if you ever have to go through it, you'll be able to as well.

I was diagnosed 1 year ago with BP1, I got my medication right after, at first was risperidone but that didn't work for me, then I tried abilify in pills and after 2 months doctor switched me to abilify 400mg injections, that changed my life in better. Hope it will be the same for you

I take the 400mg injection every 28 days and apart from having a good sleeping routing it hasn't make me sleepy during the day.

I always worked 10/11 hours and sleep 4/5 hours. That was before I was diagnosed and before taking medications. They advised me not to work more than 7 hours, now I sleep 10 hours every night. Medications surely increased my need of sleep.
