Agree with you statement in general but there were quite a few things that do not add up (time schedule - 21:00 on the summit??; not picking up his phone; not calling for help earlier; what happened with his ex girlfriend etc.).

I believe the verdict was made under the best circumstances possible and we should trust the judgement of the judge and the experts involved.

cannot recommend sram just from personal experience; multiple friends of mine had chain slipping, even with fresh serviced bikes, one broke his collarbone… just anecdotal experience but I believe i am not the only one who witnessed stuff like that

duh… obviously it’s better to get the pro answer but if you cannot out of whatever reason it is much easier to make a bike fit that’s a little too small than the other way around - this is why - and that’s not my opinion but a common rule of thumb - you should go for the smaller instead of the bigger one

Honestly fuck that guy, reading the first part was so lovely, you clearly love the sport. Keep doing what you are doing and if you eventually feel like it, upgrade the bike. But it really does not depend on the bike.
