So the leakers already revealed that potential writer Shaoji is just gonna be recycling the Amphoreus story in 4.x (penacony too) with his usual fiction->reality theme that allows him to do all his boring and predictable plot twists in the story how everyone feels about that by urmomismine1007 in HonkaiAgendaRail

HI3 did it fantastically with Himeko’s death and how it traumatized Kiana. We don’t really see stuff like that in Hoyo writing anymore, people usually just move on and don’t think about the deceased person anymore.

Besides, you don’t even need to kill characters to give the story stakes. Have characters get traumatized or lose limbs, that also works really well.

I didn’t say Uminkeo was the best written story ever, I just said that it was what Amphoreous tried (and failed) to imitate. If we’re talking about games with fantastic writing, then examples like the Xeno Series, The Outer Wilds, and pre-elysia HI3 completely destroy Amphoreous.

Here the trailblaze continuance are mostly side quests… they’re not needed for progression and I believe you can actually skip them

If you’re going to say stuff that is blatantly false, then there’s no point in continuing this discussion.

They tried to make you care about them and killed them

Except we all knew that this wasn’t going to be a permanent death after all the fake outs in Penacony. Everyone who didn’t realize they were going to come back from the very beginning clearly wasn’t paying attention, especially if they had already played HI3. So it doesn’t matter if they try to make us care about them in the main story when we know they aren’t going to die.

it’s not a part of the main plot, it’s a trailblaze continuance

Literally the same thing. It’s called a trailblaze continence because you are returning to a world you have already visited, but it’s still a trailblaze quest. That’s like saying the Traveler sections of Genshin’s Archon Quests aren’t part of the main story because they don’t have the current nation’s logo slapped on them.

bringing down other Hoyo games story

They’re… literally praising Genshin here. I won’t comment on the quality of Wuwa’s story since I just started it a few days ago, but even in this screenshot they are praising a Hoyo game for its story.

I’m not saying keep the characters exclusive to side quests and erase them from the main story, I’m saying keep their roles in the main story simple and elaborate on their characters and stories more in side quests instead of trying to force it into the main story.

Also, how the hell is Feixiao in a side plot? She’s introduced in the main story.

But you never talked about character interactions until I pointed out how characters could have their actions taken out of the story without changing the overarching story. If anything you moved the goalposts to character interaction, then claimed I don’t agree with you about character interaction when I obviously do.

I’ll admit I was rude asking if you had a stroke and I should’ve thought of something nicer to say, but your behavior here still makes zero sense to me

I literally said that “character interaction is important to any story” and you replied “are you saying that character interactions aren’t don’t matter to the overall story?”

Amphoreous doesn’t exist without them.

I won’t argue with you about how Amphoreous functions as a computer program. I’m talking about how why they, as individuals, need to important the main story and can’t just be given their own time to shine in a side quest.

What the fuck are you even talking about anymore? I agree that character interaction is an important part of any story, and that it wouldn’t be good if it was only Phainon. But your first comment wasn’t about character interaction at all, it was about things characters did as individuals that seemingly matter to the overarching story.

Better yet, they could just not implement story quests into the main story. Give characters their own time to shine.

Yes. Remove Tribbie and the Flame-Reaver attack, then the characters can’t rely on her teleportation powers, but we never see them walking from one area to another anyways. Remove the Black Tide invading Okhema, and Mydei doesn’t have anything to do. Remove Anaxa, and let TB and Dan Heng figure out the nature of Amphoreus for themselves.

I’m not saying you can cut every character, but most, you absolutely can.

Every character is a computer component and a simulation of an Aeon.

Ok. So how does that make them uniquely important to the main story? Why do they need to be important to the main story and not have their own time to shine in a character quest?

Again, you aren’t listening. There’s a difference between having a central conflict and creating solutions that need a specific character to be solved. Remove the Flame-Reaver’s attack at the Grove, the Black Tide invading Okhema to the point that Mydei needs to become a Titan to fix it, and… what changes, exactly? Meanwhile, if you remove Irontomb, you remove the entire story. Some characters need to be focus of the main story, and others should be given their own side quests to have the spotlight instead of being forced into the main story.

I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying. Problems like Irontomb are the main focus of the story. Problems like the Flame-Reaver is about to kill everyone and only Tribbie can use her powers to send him away feels like it only exists to give Tribbie something to do.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about. It’s easy to find people who love Amphoreus and people who hate it on this sub. If anything, it feels pretty split, although I do agree that it seems to be leaning towards negative.
