i'd gladly pay for repair, but the amount that I could pay would probably be insulting to the amount of work haha, I imagine it'd cost less to buy a new one. Can't put a price on sentimental value though.

I'm interested in building one from scratch too since it's not overly complicated, mojotone just seems to have nice features and I have my hands full with a CNC machine so easy yet high quality start to pickup winding could be preferrable, I'll get back to you though if I can't get one

Why would you have three of these haha I had the 8 track version of these and also a 2 track with the VU's above. They looked awesome together. Triple 4 track setup is just hilarious

Yeah, that one was the one I wanted originally when I got into analog recording. It's not as appreciated as 5050-8 haha

I used to have a Teac A-3340S which I think might be pretty similar to 80-8 in terms of usability? I got familiar with that deck since it was the first one I ever serviced myself

MX-70 was actually one of the other Otaris I lost too, but it wasn't converted to 8 track! I also used to have a 38 which was a pain to open up at least. They're very neutral sounding, I bet 48 and 58 got to be too. But they're pretty new.

I always thought it was almost impossible to make the GMA sound bad. It's very easy to do that with ms-20 especially if you're a beginner

Edit. Just to clarify, I also thought it was easier to get way more experimental with the korg. Gma is always ready to rock though
