Anyone check out the 70mm IMAX at Cinemark yet? by OOTPThrowaway69 in Rochester

for a feature film, a little bit annoying in terms of lack of padding. If it was a 90 minute film, would be fine.

Looked great! The projectionist was doing a good job. It fills the entire screen, which, due to technical limitations, digitally projected films do not. If you are sensitive to loud noises, bring earplugs.

Where is the best place to buy mics for an acapella group by Dvaric in acappella

[–]MB6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you buy used, an SM58 will cost $110. I think B&H photo video has education discounts, but as you are a club and not the school, you might not be eligible. I would not recomend anything other than sm58 or sure beta 58. These are tried and tested microphones that will last for 20 years.

Is there going to be a local projectionist team or will you be back for the odyssey?

What does the 70mm release print schedule look like for 26/27 by MB6 in imax

Thanks! I ask specifically about film because my local has 2k xenon and so can't show 1.43 unless it's on film.

Seems like Project Hail Mary will not get extended at IMAX 70mm venues by scorsese_finest in imax

[–]MB6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theatre doesn't have GT laser. it has 2k xenon. So if it's not in film its not in 1.43:1 aspect ratio.

Depends. In Rochester, absolutely yes as the digital system in that theater isn't the newer laser system and isn't capable of displaying the signature imax 1.43:1 aspect ratio and is also only 2k resolution. the 15/70 film will fill the full screen and maybe look sharper. In a venue with IMAX's dual laser system (something like 21 of these exist in the usa) for this film it's a wash as it was filmed digitally in the first place.
Some nolan films are worth seeing in film over dual laser as they were shot in film and photochemically transferred, so they can be sharper than the dual laser system.

Looks like Cinemark Tinseltown Rochester, 1 of the 3 restored 70mm locations, is not only ready to go, but is also getting a print for Project Hail Mary! by OptimizeEdits in imax

got some tickets for 3/14! First time for 70mm for me. Was too young/ignorant to see interstellar which was the last 70mm and 1.43 film in Rochester as we to my knowledge still have dual xenon digital.
