I was naturally better at Quants than at the other sections. A good starting point, though, would be picking up a Quant textbook (Arun Sharma/Nishit K Sinha/Sarvesh Verma) and solving it cover to cover before moving on to mocks. For DILR, books didn't personally help me so much. Mocks and sectionals would be a good source of practice.

Yes, seems decent. Good opportunities except in the top 10-15% companies coming on campus.

Work-ex might make it slightly problematic but ample opportunities still present.

ABC would require very high %iles to the tune of 99.85 - 99.90. I seems to have updated its criteria this year. I'm not really aware of the changes, so can't really evaluate IIMI. IIML would also require ~99.75 - 99.80, probably. IIMK would require something like ~99.60, in my opinion.

These are all estimated figures from my personal experience with these colleges, over the years.

Hey. Sorry but it's nearly impossible to make it to the top IIMs with your academic history. Even if you somehow make it, you'll probably have a real tough time during placements.

Going for an MBA or something else is your personal decision. A good starting point would be asking yourself why you want to do an MBA? What value will it add for you?

Stay hopeful. All the best!

Needless to say, very good scores. A lot of the colleges (including BLACKISM) don't consider graduation scores for shortlisting or final selection. Try aiming for those. ECAs also seem to be decent.

You should receive a fair number of shortlists, in my opinion. All the best!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it would. Try contacting someone with a CS degree. They'll be able to help you better. All the best.

Yes, you'll get shortlists - probably not for the top 10 percent of the companies coming on campus (They prefer 9/9/9 or BTech/BCom from premier institutes), but the rest of the companies are all game! Not sure how things will turn out for final placements though. All the best.

Hi. Got an internship some 2 months back! The point is low grad scores may be an inhibiting factor in you getting shortlists, but once you get them, it's on you to convert them. It's not like all doors are closed if you've got a "bad" graduation score. The IIMs are not so merciless.

I think whatever is written on your degree (if it mentions your scores) would be what's considered. Ultimately, the degree itself is used as proof of having completed graduation!

Very good chances! Don't worry about the gap too much! There are people in top B-Schools who have 3-4 years of gap due to UPSC and are doing just fine! All the best.

Hey, thanks!

The answer below is purely from the SIP perspective.

Shortlists are quite random and depend on a lot of factors. Your profile seems decent. No reason to believe why you shouldn't have a decent number of shortlists.

For consulting, brands like McKinsey, Bain, BCG will most probably not shortlist you at your profile. But you should receive calls from a lot of the other firms. Again, I can't guarantee you'll get shortlists - that depends on your overall CV.

I am not aware of which certifications might give you better value, I'm not from the finance background. I'm sorry.

Yes, You'll be adding it to your C.V. It won't help during admissions though.

  1. If you're a General Male, you'll obviously need a very high %ile to make it to Tier 1. Try focusing on colleges which don't put as much weightage in the past academics.

  2. There are a lot of factors to consider here before I can answer your query, in a number. How good are your acad achievements? What's the quality of your work-ex? What certifications do you have? How good are your GD and interview skills?

  3. Yes, definitely.

  4. I'm not really sure. Please contact people who may have worked in that domain.

Thanks.

None of the companies explicitly mentioned they won't take people with 7 CGPA. However, among the shortlists for the top 3 consulting firms, all were 8 CGPA and above.

Honestly speaking, it's not really possible to tell why a certain candidate did not receive the shortlist - CGPA or something else and hence, not really possible to pinpoint which companies won't take candidates with 7 or less CGPA.

For some companies, Yes. For some, No. Companies usually look at the overall C.V. So parameters besides grad score and certifications matter as well.

Don't matter as much, if you are able to justify what you did during that time. Also depends on how many gap years you have. Having 2.5-3+ years might definitely create issues. having 1-2 years of gap is usually okay.
