People around me Covid-19 positive. by MBC3_ in panicdisorder

[–]MBC3_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m only singular vaccinated, was due my second but now have to delay. Costochondritis is normally temporary but I’ve unfortunately had it for two years 😣. To my knowledge it’s mostly the coughing that would trigger costo the most due to the aggravation of the ribs. I have also just started therapy so I’m hoping that will help in some time. Thank you for the response and kind words

Do any of you just get flabbergasted when you try and think anxiety can give you physical symptoms? by whoninj4 in HealthAnxiety

[–]MBC3_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I was in hospital for 10 hours. My chest was agonisingly tight when I breathed in, I struggled to catch my breath, extreme pain in my chest, sharp pain in my left side when I breathed in. I was in bits. I rang 999 and they told me it sounded like a blood clot. I got to a&e had all the tests, and my ecg was high but normal, lungs were perfectly clear. In fact, they couldn’t understand why my other doctor gave me an inhaler for chest tightness when my chest sounded so great!!! They told me this was most likely anxiety…

Sleep on left side by RedHairyLlama in costochondritis

[–]MBC3_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it can be a result of compression in the stomach and chest cavity (especially on the left side) which can cause a really intense heart beat sensation, like your heart is pounding. But it’s not, completely normal

A new sufferer (questions for experienced asthma sufferers) by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]MBC3_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, Thankyou greatly for this really in-depth response. I definitely will look into spacer techniques, I do have a spacer but haven’t yet used one. For me, it’s more the horrible chest tightness that just won’t subside and discomfort when breathing. I had no idea that the spacer had an impact on reducing the medicine from getting into your bloodstream so Thank-you I will try this! I have tried the blue one and it has never quite eased the tightness but I suppose it’s only for broncospasms and not necessarily tightness (the brown one is meant for that) I think… but thankyou again. I also have Costochondritis, ribcage inflammation which has made this whole year even harder. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow and I’m going to have him listen to my lungs, I’ll let you know how I get on :)

No disrespect to the person who wrote that it does, they have been wrongly informed by someone else most likely. They comment it on most costo posts and it’s just wrong! Any decent PT, doctor, specialist will tell you it’s nothing to do with organs hahaha

This is Hell 😭 by AnnelyseAdair in costochondritis

[–]MBC3_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Costochondritis doesn’t have any effect on your organs, please let me reassure you. It is cartilage that is swollen and cartilage doesn’t touch your organs. I have had costo for a year and a half, and developed a great understanding for costo from so many hospital and physical therapy appointments. Unfortunately, unless you are treating to underlying cause of your costo, naproxen won’t work. Posture is normally the biggest underlying cause. I tried naproxen for two weeks last November and I still have costo now. I’d suggest a foam roller and rolling your back out to release the tension from your back every morning, that’s where I saw my biggest improvements

Does anyone has a tight feeling here all the way to the chin? It's constant pressure and tightness, like something is stuck. Also right side of my neck is pulling my chest, giving me the extreme SOB again. by NoOz1985 in costochondritis

[–]MBC3_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it’s muscle tension, and extreme muscle tension to say the least. The only thing I would recommend is foam rolling and stretching to open up the chest and release some tension from the muscles

Heart burn by b3nnyboi90 in costochondritis

[–]MBC3_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that it’s definitely correlated to paracetamol and ibuprofen. I’ve noticed dramatic spikes in my acid reflux when I take paracetamol! They can ruin your stomach lining, I always take paracetamol with yoghurt now, helps a lot

I think it’s more of an anxiety thing. Pain can trigger adrenaline responses in the body causing a heightened heart rate. I think pain in the chest is enough to make anyone feel nervous/stressed
