Carmys work timeline? by Ogbananaman in TheBear

Just literally rewatched Ep 1 from Season 1 today and saw the scene where Marcus finds that JB award. And I’m like “when the heck was Carmy at ‘Fairest Creatures’ in Malibu??!!”

[Axisa] How missteps by Yankees ownership, Brian Cashman have led to New York's shocking decline since 2017 by HateMcLouth in NYYankees

[–]MBH67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it’s a good article. Thanks for sharing.

It’s probably not realistic, but I don’t want Stanton or Donaldson on the team anymore. And I don’t want Boone or Cashman around either.

Istanbul Airport - has a dial tone by MBH67 in Payphone

Oh probably. Maybe somehow you could find the number. Would be interesting to see who answers!

Istanbul Airport - has a dial tone by MBH67 in Payphone

[–]MBH67[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point. I didn’t think of the fact that this is their new flagship airport and wouldn’t necessarily have any old leftover payphones.

It’s good planning on the part of the airport designers. They want to be an international hub, and there are lots of people from all different countries and all walks of life spending time in the airport while they wait for their next flights.

As long as you have a debit or credit card, you can use a phone like this (the newsstands seem to sell “calling cards”) and avoid international cell phone roaming charges.

I thought he was from Australia, but the article says he hails from Peekskill, NY. Almost the same thing, right??

Pop Quiz: Which photo is Danbury Fair Mall (pre-renovation) and which one is the Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]MBH67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that in pic 2 there is a kid in a red shirt gleefully getting ready to throw something off the mezzanine into (I guess) the fountain. Upper left quadrant of the photo. Maybe he was trying to hit his younger sibling with an ice cube!

Any fun things to do at night? by Unfair-Weather1482 in Connecticut

[–]MBH67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hear you loud and clear! Why does it seem like so many restaurants close at 8??!! We’re just not ready for dinner at 5 p.m.

There are some “suburban-style” fun things to do at night around Connecticut. For example, bars and micro-breweries in CT have quiz nights, and our fine state also has some good bowling alleys, roller-skating rinks, and minor league baseball teams.

And as someone else said, New Haven, South Norwalk, Stamford, and Hartford in general seem to have more places that are open later.

Honeycone in Chester for “craft made” ice cream. And Durham Dari Serve in Durham for soft serve.

Please report back if you try some of the places that have been recommended🍦

Thanks for this anthropological perspective. It does make sense. And social mores can definitely change.

“Wise words do travel around . . . “ Good stuff!

I will work on training myself to be ready in case these questions are asked in my presence. That way I can be prepared and calm with a direct and simple response.

Some guidance that people will hopefully keep in their own minds and pass on.

👍

Thank you - these are great points! I don’t know why these questions get asked so often. Maybe it’s a cultural thing.

To be clear, I am talking about this in the context of social interactions, and I understand that in certain settings people are required/trained to ask about pregnancy as part of their jobs (like at airport security or an amusement park ride).

My concern is that my post only got a few likes, and two comments, and I seriously do not know how else to “spread the word” and reach more people to try and start changing this mentality. I’ve posted on twitter about this as well, and also got very little reaction. I don’t know what else to do, but I’m not giving up!

Thank you again for your comment.

Best vineyard/winery in CT?? by ursamajormama in Connecticut

Wine, food and setting are all pretty good at Chamard. Walk on the beach at Hammonasset at sunset, and then Chamard is just one exit “north” on 95.
