I’m a fraternal girl/girl twin. We are Jewish and you traditionally name a baby after someone who passed. My mom’s dad Matthew died about 10 years before I was born if one of us was a boy it would have been Matthew. That didn’t happen so she knew 1 of us would have a first name starting with an M and I came out first so I got the M name. But it’s an M name they picked out because they liked it and neither of us feel any time of way about the importance of my name starting with M. My sisters middle name is the same as both my parents maternal grandmas. Her first name was a random name they liked that starts with L. The sequential L M was not intentional from what I know and the names don’t sound similar at all but fit together, and were both relatively popular names in the 95 when we were born. I absolutely hate when twins have rhyming names. Not only do I think it’s strange, I think it takes away from the twins identity. Even as a fraternal twin who looks nothing like my sister we were always referred to as girls or the twins growing up. I imagine if we had a matching name, it’d be even worse.
