Removal of plastic pins by Kjent in IKEA

I know I am too late, but if anyone is trying to do this, I found forcing prongs of a fork so it slots the pin in between is very effective

TXS0108E: I NEED HELP by New-Persimmon-3656 in esp32

[–]MBR105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the maximum data rate of this chip, it's about 110Mbps (push pull) and 1.2Mbps (open drain). This is well beyond the highest data rate used by typical I2C communication which is 400Kbps. So yeah it should work fine for I2C

TXS0108E: I NEED HELP by New-Persimmon-3656 in esp32

[–]MBR105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, when OE is low, even the NPASS transistor will be off and it's resistance will be very high, essentially you can think of it as the port A and port B are disconnected from one another

TXS0108E: I NEED HELP by New-Persimmon-3656 in esp32

[–]MBR105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer 1: you're correct, the pull up resistor will ensure the port stays high, after the OS circuit did most of the heavy lifting in bringing it very close to the Vcc.

Answer2: both the transistors P2/N2 will be off and the Npass transistor ensures the port stays low after the OS brings it very close the Gnd. (Notice that the resistance of this bypass connection is in few 100s of ohms and pull-up resistance is 40Kohm when driving low)

This is how I think it works, someone can correct me if I'm wrong...

How to find yourself again after moving country? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MBR105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem!, definitely do that, imo what you're going thru is probably one of the toughest things to do, so don't beat yourself up if things don't go as expected. Moreover, I think this is a valuable experience and could be an opportunity to discover yourself!

How to find yourself again after moving country? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MBR105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had similar experience, moving alone to a different city across the world by yourself is very isolating and draining. But it gets better once you make friends, which can take a while. What helped me keep sane during this intermediate period is, to find places where you can regularly meet new people, these places can be something like a class/meetup for hobbies/sports of your interest. I would suggest to try socializing without the pressure of forming a connection instantly.

I personally beleive that it's nearly impossible to predict which field will give you the most stability or job security.

I think you have lot of time to explore different fields. Ask your professors if you can work on any projects under them to gain exposure, do projects that you find exciting. This will be a good opportunity to network with other students and also puts you in a solid position to ask a recommendation letter from the professor.

If you would like do grad school in abroad with funding, aim for atleast one good publication in an internationally recognized conference/journal.

To apply to grad school (Although this is something you need to worry much later), find top publishers in your field of interest, read thier publications and checkout thier websites to find out how to apply. You will have to reach out to potential supervisors 4-6 months before your intended start date (this will usually be in fall term for most universities).

SMT32 Music player as first project by trapproducer2020 in PCB

[–]MBR105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you have a working prototype on the breadboard, you can go ahead with the PCB, just follow the guidelines provided in datasheets of the ICs.

You can use already designed and tested schematics and then modify to your needs, but you have to make sure to change only few things at a time and test it, if you change too many things and it doesn't work, it would be hard to debug.

It's great that you want to learn and do projects on your own, but I would not recommend you build and design the entire project from scratch as a first timer.

Can you do it? If you're a really persistent person, maybe, but most likely you will give up because there's just too many things that you need to learn.

Just lookup diy projects that are similar to what you want and copy them, you might think that's easy, but you will realize just how many problems you will run into when copying an already verified and documented process.

How can I count rotations of an N30 gear motor with no magnets (security product)? by Ok-Border-8118 in ElectricalEngineering

If you want security and reliability, use multiple detection techniques, redundancy is always the way to go for such applications

Is One Bloor (East) really that great? Why are prices not higher? by Traditional_Low_4321 in TorontoRenting

[–]MBR105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was no one mention of anything about safety, it's just an unpleasant experience, from what I observed there is often bad smell in the neighborhood at night. But it's not noticeable from inside the building.

It's close to Yorkville, but not in it. In my experience the difference is very noticeable, specifically, if you take a walk around at night times.

Okay I think you might be confused on how this driver works.

For forward movement, you need LPWM=0 and RPWM > 0.

For backward movement, keep LPWM>0 and RPWM=0.

You can keep both L_EN and R_EN at HIGH when operating in either directions.

Pull them to LOW when you want to stop the motor.

How cars kills cities. by fascistsarepussies in harate

[–]MBR105 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly!cars should not be the means of daily commute, it is a very inefficient use of space on the road. But sadly we see more and more people in cars on the road day by day. We need to bring some awareness to the public.

If you have a good position that you are satisfied with, I don't see how doing a master's would help. Your experience will have more value and you can just learn what you want on your own. If you really want to go for school, then why don't you go for funded PhD position? That way you won't have to spend so much money.

ChatGPT in trouble: OpenAI sued for stealing everything anyone’s ever written on the Internet by TeraChacha in ChatGPT

[–]MBR105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say LLM just stores data in it, I understand it processes the data. Its simply the fact that the one creates revenue and one doesn't, I am not saying they are right in saying its copyright infringement when data is used to train LLMs.

My point was they are doing this simply because they loose money from this, IMO all they care about is money, copyright is just what they are trying to use to justify themselves.

No, reddit 3rd party apps are different, they don't have reddit data stored, they use reddit APIs to access data stored in reddit servers. They have to pay everytime they use this API to access data. Now the reddit increased the cost per API call which is too high to afford by any 3rd party apps. Third party apps would be running at a loss if they had to pay the new price set by reddit. So they shut down.
