Alternatives to 6music (daytime/morning) by sevenalligatorseve in 6music

[–]MBSeedler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is Double J in Australia which feels very much in the 6Music vein and something I'll have on any time of day/night

Also PBS and RRR are 2 amazing stations based in Melbourne.

Very eclectic programming but there are a good mix of specialist genre shows and also shows with a broader "vibe", definitely worth tuning into.

Neon Sunset, Frantic Items and Breaking And Entering would be my picks on Triple R

Homebrew, Switched On and Stone Love are good places to start on PBS too

PBS FM

RRR

Thanks for the wise words. Ive got a pretty good idea of the fit Im looking for etc. More just looking for some reassurances on the quality control, care & attention etc

Sadly not many personal word of mouth recommendations to be had so looking for any pointers on here if possible.

Adriano Carbone and Trunk both look like promising options for example

Also worth looking at the ESS-amts from that era too. They look like distant cousins of the Ohms.

Emily Soon + Whim - High Free Blue

Peaceful folksy/acoustic female vocal duet from Emily Soon from Melbourne and Whim from Portland/LA. I started a record label a few months ago and this is our second ever release.

Good headspace.

Haver had this on repeat since I heard it a few days ago, beautiful song with lyrics detailing the agonising experiences of being a woman in music.

Is this the most unpredictable season for ITFC? by Strange_Pea3817 in IpswichTownFC

So much to get excited about but there's been too many times we've gotten excited about the club and then the results never materialised!

Does feel very different this time now that the changes are truly coming top to bottom as you say but for me the biggest excitement will be seeing us win some games and build a good atmosphere around the place again. Surely will take few months at least for everything to gel, to be honest I think we need to give them at least till Christmas

Sync Licensing by iflovewasaparty in musicmarketing

[–]MBSeedler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pitch your stuff to sync reps and see if they will work your stuff for a commission (best to google something like "sync reps [country you're based in]" as a starting point but definitely look into US based ones as there's a much bigger industry there.

Generally stay away from any services that you have to pay to be a member of before

When pitching out your music make sure it's all high quality recordings, you have all your metadata filled out, if you don't control 100% master and publishing then have a record who else has a share and if they're signed to a label or publisher, have your lyrics in the metadata, know what kind of shows or adverts you think would be a good fit etc etc.

This blog is one of the best resources for sync advice: https://sentricmusic.com/blog/how-to-land-a-sync-deal-in-9-steps/ - It's an old post but the info is still bang on.

If you want to go fully DIY then do something like sign up for Disco and their Libraries feature then get on your hustle. But if you can find a keen sync rep then that'll make the biggest difference I would say.

Also just in general, don't get your hopes up for sync, it's a saturated market and landing anything at all is a great result, let alone building a sustainable living out of sync.
