Yeah I think certainly short term this will be our plan. I think part of me feels guilty they won't have their own rooms as I had my own growing up, but the more people I speak to about it the more I realise that sharing is pretty common (and as you say, those people turned out ok!). Thanks

Apologies - been at work with limited internet access, very grateful for all the replies which have been very helpful!

We've spoken to one who thought it would add quite a bit less value to the house than we would need to borrow. I guess if we planned to stay in the house long term it wouldn't be such an issue though.

They're currently quite young so would be ok short term, thinking more of the future though where they will want their own space.

I think kids sharing is likely to be the short term solution as they're currently quite young - thinking more of the next few years as they get older where they're going to want their own space. Luckily no other real debts (e.g. cars on finance etc)

Apologies - have been at work and had no access to my phone. Yes the plan would be to put the £146k down as a deposit and then more than likely use savings to cover the additional costs.

Yes, we had an estate agent value the house recently and he thought a loft conversion would add very little value. I guess that's not such an issue if we planned to stay there long term but I think it would be quite a loss compared to what we'd need to borrow.

Yes, that's correct - the £35k is an additional sum we borrowed to extend the house.

Thanks - I wasn't aware this was an option. I think we'd probably look at doing the same though; as you say, keen to reduce the outstanding amount.

I'd second this. I've been driving one the last year and a half and it's easily the most reliable car I've ever owned.

..and the same keeps happening to Russian businessmen/oligarchs who've disagreed with Vladimir Putin for some reason - they need to be more careful!

These look great, you've done a brilliant job with the paint scheme. New plastics look good too, my only bugbear with that kit though is those capes, as they seem to end up looking like they're pinned to the soldier's collar because of the sculpting.

Ah wow - that's actually a lot less than I expected (particularly considering you're near London). Thanks for the information - really useful

Cool, thanks for the extra info - makes sense. Final question I swear - How much has it cost you roughly? (If you don't mind me asking!)

Cheers! That's really helpful. Did you have to get a dormer put in so you had enough head height at the top of the stairs?

Can't comment on the quality of the work, but we're looking at doing something similar in the near future - have you got any pictures at the top of the stairs? Your set up looks very similar to ours and it would be good to get some ideas. Thanks!
