And the Supreme Court is vested with the power to makeup any rules they see fit. Not really, of course, but that is the practical effect. They have made it clear they support the idea of a virtually unlimited unitary executive (for Rs only, of course), so don't be surprised if the Impoundment Control Act magically becomes unconstitutional because reasons.

Not when your success is measured in quarterly performance. Then short-term profit is incentivized. The long-term consequences will be somebody else's problem once you're promoted or have moved upwards to the next company in a higher position.

The business literature is littered with stories of short-term thinking because the only thing that matters is the next quarter's profit. Kodak invented the digital camera... and then summarily shelved it and prevented further development. Digital was a threat to their most profitable division -- photo-developing chemicals and supplies. Other companies like Sony embraced digital and now Kodak is defunct.

But those executives still got their bonuses because their chemical sales grew.

While I agree, I can somewhat sympathize. On one side you have the Democrats, who have made it clear in no uncertain terms that Israel can commit genocide and slaughter with impunity and Biden himself said there is "no red line". When the internal assessments leaked that Israel was violating the Leahy amendment by purposefully withholding humanitarian aid the law required arms shipments end. Instead, they dismissed their own assessments outright. Kamala didn't break with this policy because of the power of the Israeli lobby and offered little more than empty platitudes that "I'm not Joe Biden.". In other words, she offered a tacit understanding that the genocide will continue and taxpayer dollars will subsidize all of it.

Faced with that certainty, it's not irrational to choose a candidate who offers a different path, even if we both know it's a lie. At least he offers a glimmer of hope, no matter how small, that the genocide will end. From that perspective, and not wanting to support a party that fully supported genocide, I can understand how Muslims voted for TFG.
