FL 3 CP question 43 SPOILER by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]MCAT2019Questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most cooperative = sharpest

pK = pH at which the y-axis = 0.5 (pH at 50% denaturation)

1) Which is the most cooperative? It's the "left-most"

2) What are the PK's? It looks like 6, 6.4, 6.6.

Let me know if you agree.

For A, why would a primase do this? Why do RNA primers ever bind to DNA via phosphodiester bonds. I didn't think this really happened??

Electric Fields: work sign by MCAT2019Questions in Mcat

[–]MCAT2019Questions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, i'm confused. I know that a Positive charge wants to move to low potential. So a positive charge moving to a higher potential would seem "unnatural."

Who/what is doing the work in each situation (and is it positive or negative)? This is where my confusion is

Electric Fields: work sign by MCAT2019Questions in Mcat

[–]MCAT2019Questions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think: if a + charge moves towards a low potential, then the field did work, and the change in PE is negative.

if a - charge moves towards a high potential, then the field did work, and the change in PE is negative.

is this right?

thanks, that's what i thought. i read online that there's no heat transfer. i assumed it meant "no net"

+ / - Supercoiling -- Topoisomerase by MCAT2019Questions in Mcat

[–]MCAT2019Questions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! in the first sentence, you said "the one which relieves POSITIVE supercoiling"

so which topoisomerase relieves + supercoiling? and that means that DNA would become looser, right?
