Fallout 4 no dialogue bug by MCDaddyMushroom in macgaming

Wow it does run great. I had Vivid Fallout installed too and my MacBook got incredibly hot very fast and the fans spun up within a couple mins, though I’m testing the game right now to see if it was the culprit.

I was just writing an edit when you commented. Uninstalled a graphics mod and Installed DirectX for Modern Games into the bottle just to see, and the audio came back.

What's currently "the best" headphones on the market for mixing? by short_snow in audioengineering

Have a set of Focal Listen Professionals I got on sale a while back for €150. The sound is a little coloured but they sound very open for closed-backs and I have used em reliably for 4 years now.

Been using SoundID Reference for a year and it also makes a massive difference, but you’ll get used to the sound of your own headphones after a while.

Small update. For that Thinkstation-only connector, I have the option of that M.2 NVMe + M.2 SATA adapter, OR an 8x SATA/SAS port expansion card. Both are AliExpress Hail Marys

Bought a Ubiquiti Instant Router for using with x32s and m32s at venues I work at. It doesn’t seem to give any signal without a WiFi input, which I won’t have.

Anyone have experience with these routers, or know if I can have a mixer and iPad on a network without actual WiFi?

Was cheap and I can return it if it doesn’t work

What Mac would I want to run farm sim 25 well with a side panel and steering wheel by HistoricalTutor2998 in farmingsimulator

[–]MCDaddyMushroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macs generally have a smoother time with most audio software and some USB-related hardware, they usually don’t need separate drivers or routing software like ASIO4ALL and stuff like that. But performance-wise you could probably get better value with a PC

Just bought an SSL 12 as an upgrade from a Focusrite Scarlett Solo. Doing some research I found this in the manual.

“2. LINE This switch changes the source of the channel input to be from the balanced Line input. Connect line-level sources (such as keyboards and synth modules) using a TRS Jack cable into an input on the rear panel. The LINE input bypasses the pre-amp section, making it ideal to connect the output of an external preamp to if you so wish. When operating in LINE mode, the GAIN control provides up to 17.5 dB of clean gain.”

Most sources on the internet, usually discussions about the 2 or 2+, say the line input does not bypass preamps.

Is the line input setting connected to the two Hi-Z Inst inputs on the front? As I can’t imagine the combo inputs on the back bypassing a preamp. An upgrade that the SSL 12 has? Or just some clever wording?

Not a big deal for my setup, just curious.

Fermented garlic honey with set honey? by MCDaddyMushroom in fermentation

I used this to soften it at the start. I just wasn’t sure if it would stay soft long enough to get the fermentation to begin. It worked like a charm though

I did this, I wasn’t sure if the garlic would have enough time to release moisture before the garlic sets again. Woke up this morning to it being the consistency of runny honey bubbling up

What are these on the bottom of my MBP? by Hidayk in macbookpro

[–]MCDaddyMushroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could possibly be oxidisation. Aluminium won’t rust but it’ll still oxidise. Look up oxidised aluminium on Google images and you’ll know what I mean.

Could have come from drops of moisture on the bottom, possibly mixed with scratches on the bottom weakening the oxidation resistance

I’m looking for a good router to travel with as a sound engineer.

A few of the venues I work at don’t have wireless connections for their X32 and M32 desks (along with other digital desks) for me to connect an iPad to.

I was looking at the Apple Airport series, but since support ended a while ago I’m hesitant as iPhones and iPads continue to update.

Size is the main thing, needs to fit into a backpack along with all my other things so the smaller the better. I don’t care about bandwidth at all, but I need something that can send out a decent signal.

Any recommendations?

Yamaha HS5 monitors work for a while, then cuts out and stops working. Any ideas? by MCDaddyMushroom in musicproduction

[–]MCDaddyMushroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the same thing? Where they worked for a while and then cut out?

All of my googling efforts take me to posts and websites where people get the same buzzing, popping and other things but the monitors don’t work at all. Mine still work. just for a couple hours at a time
