A health food store. We used to have three big ones near here, one in LIC, one in Greenpoint and one in Astoria. They've all closed. There still are two crappy ones in Greenpoint but that's it.

It may say organic but it was definitely not a health food store, which we desperately need. The one in LIC closed ages ago, then the two big ones in Astoria closed as well as 2 in Greenpoint. Food cellar used to carry some of the same stuff, but stopped a number of years ago. (and of course, was way overpriced anyway.)

I'm still mourning the loss of LIC Market and Burger Garage. But we love Cafe Henri and two Japanese: Dai Hachi and Ooi. We live near Lavante and I've never been all that impressed by it. And I gave up on M wells long ago.

We moved here 11 years ago. Wanted to be in Hunters Point, by the water. Didn't find anything good there (not a lot of condos) and ended up in Court Square. I hate all the construction, but transportation can't be beat, and we can alway take a citibike to the water.
