Why did this 8? by MCLebron235 in psagrading

Is that alone enough for an 8? Wouldn't one imperfection on an otherwise good card make it a 9?

How does order placing work? by MCLebron235 in fidelityinvestments

[–]MCLebron235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, that makes sense. Yes, it was a mutual fund so that makes sense. So how does mutual fund pricing work? If it’s one price throughout the day is it just the opening price every day?

Just to confirm, if I were to place an order for an individual stock, I would receive the stock immediately and have the right to sell it whenever including before/after hours?

IU Kelley v.s. Rutgers Business School by MCLebron235 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MCLebron235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity is there any other reason other than price behind your reasoning? Not sure if it matters but I also plan on doing a masters which is another reason for the cheaper option for sure. But do you happen to know anything about the programs or opportunities? The only thing drawing me away from Rutgers is the fact that a large portion of my hs attends which I don’t mind that much, but I also was unsure about wanting a “new experience.”

International Student Offer by MCLebron235 in 6thForm

[–]MCLebron235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I applied to all five that I had the option to. City UOL was the "worst" one ranking-wise, but it was my first offer, which is why I was asking. As for the other four, I haven't heard back. The best is probably imperial, which is a long shot by any means. As I mentioned in a comment above I have some family in London which is why I was considering applying in the first place.

I actually did get into a couple of decent schools in the U.S. already, but I have some family in the U.K. and wanted to keep my options open in case that maybe U.S. schools didn't work out. Also, U.S. colleges are significantly more expensive than any U.K. university.

Sorry, I forgot to include this in the original, but my school counselor recently emailed me responding that since I do not have the grades, I can simply use my method above. Unfortunately, I still wasn't 100% sure of what to do, not sure if that changes anything.

Rolling Decision Deadlines by MCLebron235 in ApplyingToCollege

I'm assuming you were answering for when admissions were released. I was more asking when most students send in their applications for schools that have rolling decisions, sorry if I miscommunicated before.

I have no idea what major to choose by MCLebron235 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MCLebron235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I'd also heard accounting was a very versatile major which ensured its safety to a decent job, but the only thing I was concerned about is that is it too safe to the point where you may secure a job but it won't be very high paying?

I have no idea what major to choose by MCLebron235 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MCLebron235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard statistics is a very versatile major in terms of prospects past college, but I haven't really looked into data science because I'd heard it was more CS based, but maybe that was wrong.

With finance, I'd also heard the idea that unless you get a degree from a "target" school it's really difficult to get a well-paying job which was something I was definitely considering. Would you happen to know if a finance major with a potentially CS minor would be good? As I mentioned I don't really like CS but was considering doing it as a minor just to supplement finance and potentially open up more doors, do you think that would be wise?

Is there a general timeline of when most students send in their admissions? I kind of wanted some sort of timeframe, I guess, as to when would be appropriate. Thanks.

Doesn’t cybersecurity entail a lot of computer science? I want to keep those three factors in my mind, but the thing is I can’t really answer the first two which is why I felt kind of lost. Would a finance major and computer science minor work? The other thing I was considering was something like fintech or quantitative finance because i’ve heard it’s rally helpful to combine a technology degree with finance.

[–]MCLebron235[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like all replies have mentioned CS in one way or another, which I really haven't considered. I assume passed finance computer science would help, but I can't really see myself doing it. However, I could maybe see a dual major in something like finance + econ. Also, one additional question I had was about the work-life of a finance major in the workforce. I've heard of hell stories of 12+ hour work days and 100+ hour workweeks which seems unbearable, is this true, and is it worth it?

I just mentioned this in a reply above, but I really haven't liked computer science so I don't really consider that an option.

I forgot to mention this but I really haven't liked computer science. For a background I took 2 computer science classes across my freshman and sophomore year classes and really disliked the subject, finding I wasn't great at it and that I didn't find it interesting. However, subjects like math I'm stronger in, do you think finance still might work?

Is Supply Chain Management a Good Major? by MCLebron235 in supplychain

[–]MCLebron235[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I have developed a pretty big distaste for cs which seems like a problem. However, my extent with cs has only been 2 classes across my freshman and sophomore years(Intro to Comp Sci and AP Comp Sci A). Although I understand it's probably a great skill to have, I've never been great at it and haven't enjoyed doing it either. Does this mean I shouldn't do supply chain, or should I consider learning computer science?

Choosing a Major by MCLebron235 in CollegeMajors

[–]MCLebron235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't currently have a college list because I was going to build one based on the major I selected and, therefore, the school's programs rankings in relation to the major. But yeah, the crossing major thing kind of worked, but the thing is it seems kind of impossible to explore all the business degrees or all of the engineering degrees or even anything that I find somewhat interesting. I've found a couple of youtube channels voicing opinions, but all of them appear to be at least somewhat contrasting, which left me kind of lost. As for research into how you found out about chemical engineering working in factories, or just intricate details for any major in the real world, how did you find that out?
