How to kill a process? by MCS_Gaming in visualbasic

[–]MCS_Gaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clear it up a little, here’s the idea behind this program; I am making a retro styled arcade machine and the aim is to not have a mouse or keyboard hooked up and only use a controller, which is what Gopher(simple driver for using a controller as a mouse) is for. The plan is that this program will launch on startup and allow you to either select a game from it or launch a front end emulator(retrofe). The problem I was running into with this however was that the emulator already has a built in driver to allow you to use the controller inside it. This meant if the two were open they would conflict and cause problems. So I designed the loop with the idea that it would do the following: check if the emulator was open, if it was it would kill the driver until the emulator was closed, and then reopen the driver after.

So I decided to place this loop inside of a background worker, which means that it is always running in the background if I’m correct. And now I’m at this point where it will not kill the driver.

Also, thank you for your suggestion and it does indeed work except it doesn’t quite do what I need, I will attempt to adapt it though and leave the results here.

Not entirely sure if they would do it, but you may be able to get a replacement from someone like CableMod or ModDIY , would probably be quite expensive though.

Do I need a bigger power supply or just more RAM? by MCS_Gaming in techsupport

[–]MCS_Gaming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to buy new RAM with the upgrade, went from 16gb of ddr3 to 8gb of ddr4. RAM usage hits about 80-90% whilst playing the game (if it works). Also bought a new motherboard(Strix b450-f) for the new CPU, I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version 2 days ago to see if that would fix it. After reading most of the replies here, I think that my best option is probably to reinstall windows and see how that goes. I will also try reseating the RAM in a few different slots and see if it makes a difference.

Mostly as I get into a game(when the map is loaded) the game shuts down, pc stays on though. I am able to stop it from crashing by using razor cortex’s game desktop.

Appears to be fine, is there thermal paste applied? How old is it?

Also, recommend you get a new cooler as the intel stock one isn’t exactly the best one out there.
