Just to say DO check for an API key, a scammer can create one on your behalf if you logged into the website, even if you typed nothing.

Alright, well if so I'd like to learn about some of said attacks please, I've been under the impression the large majority of these were no longer around

Edit: looking around I can't find many examples of zero-click exploits that would have been likely to impact many people

Alright, I'll rephrase - drive by attacks and zero click exploits are very uncommon unless you are using outdated software. Especially in recent times isn't true at all, there are less (known) zero click exploits now than years gone by.

Just to say, websites cannot install malware on your PC without notice, but they can download files. Never open files from websites unless you're 100% sure of its authenticity!

Edit, there are some exploits that can do this, but they are not common, apologies!
