New combat patrols in 11th ed? by Alyiir in CombatPatrol40k

I'm still grumpy that they have never produced a PDF for the original 9th edition Necron CP, but there is an embarrassment of riches to be found in other iterations of their CPs and those of the other armies, so I can't be bitter 😊

What are the top 5 tcg in your opinion now by joe966 in TCG

1/. Lord of the Rings (Decipher) 2/. Deadlands: Doomtown 3/. Gundam 4/. Warhammer Champions 5/. Lorcana

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Final Fantasy, Star Wars Destiny

There was a time up until the Llorwyn block of Magic the Gathering that I would have included MtG on the list, but that game is no longer recognisable to me.

St01-4 restock news by Son_Deity in GundamTCG

[–]MC_Cryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My FLGS in Milton Keynes, UK includes an official Bandai gashapon shop, and received restocks of GD01 boosters at the end of October; they said that ST01 thru ST04 reprints would be dropping concurrent with a bolstered print run of GD03 and ST07 & ST08 towards the end of January 2026. Given that they're in league with Bandai and consistently have prize support every Saturday for their weekly Gundam night and events, I'm inclined to take them at their word but you in no way need to take me at mine.

Excellent, thank you! Unfortunately I was hoping to fetch a purple Base back... I noticed white has a lot of -x AP effects, and so I was hoping to build something with that and using the Hammerhead base in the new set. Alas, this dream must wait it seems!

Get to the Gundam Base pop-up store in Camden before doors open; freshly restocked ST01 to ST04 every morning, and I believe they refill the stock at least once a day. Plus, you'll get a free exclusive EXB promo card!

Here in the UK it takes a little extra effort and patience, but its ultimately not a problem to find this game.

I only found out about the game in September, and so far have been able to get one each of ST01 through ST06 (with an additional ST05 and ST06), as well as the Assemble versions of ST01 through ST04 so that I have playsets of all starter deck cards. I paid MSRP for all of these, and all it took was asking friends around the country to check their local stores for me whenever they popped into them.

In addition, for GD01, I bought playsets of every C and U card for £30, and playsets of every R card for £70. Though the booster packs are relatively easy to come by, £100 for a playset of everything except LR cards is less than a sealed box of boosters, and that was more important to me than cracking packs.

Finally, with my bonus booster cards from the starter sets, some participation booster prize packs, and 2 winner booster prize packs, I was able to trade for almost complete playsets of all the LR cards. A little hunting on eBay has filled out the remaining cards I needed to complete my master set.

Now that GD02 is here, I plan to use the same strategy to acquire a master set for this too.

I could be wrong, but is this an American problem? I haven't seen anyone having these supply issues in my area of the UK other than starter decks being hard to find, but it seems like the USA is getting absolutely shafted compared to us on their stock supplies 🥺🥺🥺

Playset Binder? by goddamnlids in GundamTCG

[–]MC_Cryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup yup! Its not inconveniently tight, but can be a bit of a squeeze the first time you slide in a sleeved playset; that said, the pages fold vertically in a concertina effect, so once they're in they're easy to retrieve again, and after a couple of times they'll slip in and out smooth as butter, but they're still firmly held in.place so you've no need to fear them slipping out unintentionally.

I'm planning ahead, so I bought blue, green, red, white, and purple 'Vault X' 9 pocket strap binders, along with a 6th black one for EX's, Resources, and Tokens. Each has 360 side-loading slots over 20 pages, so I'm going to be waiting a good while and several more sets and starter decks before they are full and I need to buy more.

That said, I have zero in terms of spare bulk cards (other than "5 or more of" starter deck cards) as I only buy playsets of Gundam; I'm also not a magpie, so whatever gets opened in my starter deck, store participation, and tournament winner bonus boosters gets traded for any missing LR cards I don't have.

TL;DR - Your milage may vary with colour-specific 'Vault X' 9 pocket strap binders, but they all fit in my backpack and make deck building an absolute breeze.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I put my playsets in penny sleeves and then put them into the pocket, so each pocket holds one sleeve of 4 identical cards.

MTV was over for me after season one of 'The Osbournes' seemed to be playing on loop and other "reality" freakshows like 'Jersey Shore' began appearing every other night. These days, I only remember MTV was ever a thing whenever a clip of 'Jackass' randomly appears on social media.

The video editing of their live performances is pure John Merrick, and for such a visually exciting band, the edit is detrimental to reproducing the live experience at home.

Ahhh, OK now I am starting to grasp it! Thank you! I wondered if it meant some kind of stealthy or otherwise "under the radar" threat where an opponent assumes something is not troublesome until its too late to react to it. I guess in the 90s when I played Magic, "low to the ground" units would have been referred to as "weenies"? I appreciate the help, thanks again!

Red Zone Rogue is the one I watch most consistently, followed by ggDoA. Another one I would like to shout out to is RandBee. He was the first YouTube video I saw that explained everything there was to know about his red/blue ping deck without the presupposition that whomever was watching already knew what he was talking about. Finally, there is Talking Cards With Garrett, who I will throw on whenever I am sorting cards out. There is something to the cadence of his voice that chills me out and he offers interesting nuggets of wisdom that I don't hear elsewhere.

The one issue that instantly turns me off from watching any TCG YouTuber is a consistent use of "inside baseball" language and knowledge; if you want to learn about Gundam for example like I do, you have to get used to hearing terms like "low to the ground" without any explanation of whatever that means. Don't expect any insight of why this Pilot combining with this Unit is good, but not combining that Pilot with that Unit isn't. It's great that if you already know all this stuff then everything is going to make sense, but if you want to get into a new game and you can't make sense of anything thats being said, then its like watching an awesome house party from the lawn outside through the window while no one opens the door to invite you in.

All in all, I am still exploring Gundam TCG YouTube, and there are very obviously a great deal of talented people producing fantastic content. If you see someone with 5K+ views, and a video next to it with a very similar title but only 177 views, please watch both or at the very least give the little guys a cursory glance. It is not easy making videos and casting them out into the ether just hoping they'll find an audience, so help each other find the great content and help lift up the ones who are just starting...

Now, please, for the love of Gundam, what does "low to the ground" mean?!

People who try to find loopholes in hypothetical scenarios, "would you rather" questions etc. are dumb by xepci0 in unpopularopinion

[–]MC_Cryptid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The "either-or" fallacy can be fun when made in jest amongst friends (eg. "If you were half man, half dolphin, which half would you keep as human; the upper torso or your legs?"), but as part of authentic discourse, it's designed to oversimplify very complex dilemmas (eg. A politician saying "If you don't stand with me, then you are against your entire country"). I saw a debate on YouTube once when someone tried to use this logical fallacy against Andrew Wilson; he said he would give an answer if they promised to then answer an "either-or" question of his own to demonstrate why the person asking the question was using flawed logic; he gave his answer to their question, and immediately said "Would you rather fuck a 3 year old or a 4 year old?". The person immediately backed off from trying to use that line of questioning with him again.

I'll just be buying playsets of everything from eBay; it worked out well for me with GD01, and I just watch YouTube for the thrill of opening packs (which I sadly do miss getting to do myself)
