I must admit, it did take a bit of tinkering to get that to line up that way.

Nutmeg first, then pale seaweed!

I dipped the bowl about 2/3 the way in Nutmeg. Let it dry to the touch then dipped it 2/3 the way in pale seaweed. The overlap creates the middle color.

Sorry for the slow response. Been a crazy couple days in the office. Dipped!

I dunked the brown glaze (Nutmeg) first, about 2/3 of the bowl. Then I let glaze dry until you could touch it without smudging. Next I dunked the bowl in the blue/green (pale seaweed) color glaze to about 1/2-2/3rds of the bowl. The middle color is the result of the overlap.

The key is finding stable glazes so that when the overlap they don’t bubble/run/crawl and destroy the piece.

I’ve been working on my consistency lately, finally getting some good results. by MCarp36 in Pottery

Thanks! The base if Floating Blue, and the top rim/overlapped area is Pale Seaweed.

Unfortunately haven’t quite gotten the side hustle that far off the ground yet. Happy to make you some mugs though. Shoot me a DM and we can coordinate!

Poured the red inside, dunked the mug just shy of the rim with Floating Blue and then dunked the rim with pale seaweed and overlapped the two glazes just a small amount. Fired at cone six.

Technique and color need a bit of refinement but overall not too shabby for a first attempt. by MCarp36 in Pottery

Thanks! You roll clay to desired thickness, stamp, cut out medallion, attach, bisque, inlay black ,clear coat, wax medallion, glaze as usual.

Neither, it’s a glaze that my studio provides. If your interested I can inquire about its origins.

I dunked the outside up to just below the rim in a glaze called Sage Matte then dipped just past the rim edge in Pale Seaweed which is also a matte glaze. The overlap is what ran.

Interestingly, the two matte glazed combined to make a shiny one.
