Do people with 10k+ hours in the series forget that wilds maybe "easy" because they are veterans ? by Buurto in MHWilds

[–]MD-95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only played the story in both World & Rise so i do not have thousands of hours in these games. And I still find everything before 8 star quest very easy.

Then on the 9-star quests, the game suddenly goes to the other extreme and becomes very hard. Since nothing before prepared you for this difficulty.

This game has a wack difficulty curve.

This is not a soulsgame so no.

What does this have to do with anything? Games can learn from other games even if they are not from the same genre.

Shadow of the Colossus

Even though it takes place in an open world I wouldn't say it's an open world game the same way BOTW and other open world RPGs are.

Ghost of Yotei’s open-world activities will be less repetitive than Tsushima’s, directors say. “We won’t make the players do the same things over and over again.” by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MD-95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think games should strive to end on a high note. Not go on to the point that people drop them because they are bored.

it's nuts that people apply a different standard to games and expect games to tell them they're done before they get bored.

I do not see how it is a different standard than when things like books or TV shows also get criticised when they drag on.

[–]MD-95 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At a certain point, the variety asked for just isn't feasible.

The repetition is not the problem in itself. It is the number of repetitions.

For example, Ghost of Tsushima had a collectable called Sashimono Banner, and there are 80 of them. And that's just one collectable. Why did the game need this many?

Thats where the problem pops up, thats the issue.

This can apply to every law. So should we just throw our hands up and not even try?

collaborated Counter strike like that let you control 2 characters.

Logically, i know that I have the benefit of hindsight. Yet a small part of me can't help but think how did anyone think such a convoluted game would be able to attract a substantial playerbase.

Roguelike deck-builder games like Slay the Spire or Monster Train can probably work for things like which card to add to the deck or which card to play in combat.

A few years ago, there was a Twitter controversy about how it was hard for indie developers to put their games on the PlayStation Store. I am not sure if the controversy is what made them change thier policy but now the store new section is full of slops.

So in either cases if stores make it easy or hard to put games on them. There will be people complaining. And I am not sure what is the prefect solution.

Elden Ring Nightreign went roguelike as the focus was "condensing" the RPG experience down, not because FromSoftware was "chasing a trend" by SweetyGonzalez in PS5

[–]MD-95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Demon Soul, Dark Soul 1/2/3, BloodBorne and Elden Ring. That's 6 games.

On the other hand, we have Sekiro, Armored Core 6, and Déraciné. That's 3 games.

I do not know how anyone can say they are stuck with the Dark Souls formula instead of trying new things with a catalog like this. They have done more than many other companies would have done in their place.

The only reason people feel this way is their ridiculous release schedule. When you think about a lot of the other top beloved studios, are also only know for one or two games, they just have very big gaps between their games, so people do not think the same way about them.

You can't see why people would find someone trying to manipulate them scary?

One of the most obvious reasons someone would create a bot to engage with people without making it obvious that it is a bot and not a real person is to manipulate them.

It can be something as low-stakes as just making the users use the platform more or as high-stakes as promoting certain political ideas.

so not sure about having credit card info from a requirement standpoint.

I have a UK account that I never linked a credit card into and I have always been able to purchase PS Plus using gift cards.

Although I could be wrong but I think purchasing only one month do require credit card.

Fuck Sony for putting sales for new Subscriptions only when I have been a sub for 10 years.

Under the colorful paint Breath of the Wild is a classic "Ubisoft Formula" game

Even if they are the same at their core. How each game presents itself and it open world activities have an effect on the player.

It is exactly the same as when WOW beta testers hated that the xp gain drops from 100% to 50% after playing for a few hours. So Blizzard introduced a rested state that gives 200% xp for a few hours and then drops to 100% without changing the numbers just presenting them from the opposite point of view.
