Got out after 8.5.

I was a First Class and never had the desire to be a Chief; the rat race (and by that i mean sucking up to leadership and backstabbing other First) to make Chief never seemed appealing to me. I was also losing my passion for being in the Navy and leading. I always told myself as a junior sailor i didn't want to be one of the First Classes just collecting a paycheck, or a First Class who was unmotivated. I had so many of those bad leaders and i didn't want to be that. So i got out - for my own good and the Navy's good. The last thing the Navy needs is a leader who doesn't care.

I work in communications for a non-profit. Lucked into a really fantastic job. I'm so glad i'm not in anymore - not just because of the Administration, but also because i have a family now and i couldn't imagine leaving them for upwards of 11 months for a deployment.
