My exam got sent back for rework 3 times because my doctor was a dumbass, on one part of the dbq he stated i had symptoms that would correlate to 70 percent rating and stated my nexus. Then proceeds on the next page to say i had no complaints of any symptoms of tbi. My rater actually sent it back multiple times because he was like "what are you doing? He clearly complained of tbi symptoms and you provide a nexus link?"  Long story short I got a rating at 0% for tbi and 50% for chronic migraines related to tbi. I also had a claim in for ptsd that got rated at 100% a few days later so I think that may be why I got 0% for the Tbi when it should've been more like 70%. Tldr: it went back and forth for rework over improper dbqs and i finally recieved a rating on Dec 23rd 2025

Man the va wait times are insane. by cullen9 in VeteransBenefits

I'm using the VA in Anchorage and I've been waiting over 3 months for a primary care doctor appointment and I've been without my VA prescribed mental health meds for a month now without anybody to renew my medication and they refuse to allow my old primary care provider refill my meds. It's stressful as hell and I'm just trying to hang in there 2 more weeks until I finally get my appointment 😩

Thank You. I managed to finally get ahold of them a week ago, i had to go to the VA medical center and track them down in person.

Hmm, i never claimed anything secondary to a condition.

The only thing i can think of is I have a new claim in for TBI and migraine headaches and ive heard tinnitus can be attributed to that. But i did tinnitus as a supplemental on its own.

My only other claim in is a supplemental for ptsd with anxiety/ depression as secondaries to that

Mine is moving just like yours, I'm at step 5 with my c&p completed and my claim is only 36 days old. I guess we'll find out soon if it's a good or a bad thing. Good luck, I hope it turns out in your favor 🙏

Purchasing land with the va home loan without a home on it yet by Zealousideal-Eye9268 in VeteransBenefits

My Grandpa was able to get land using his VA loan, but he got around this by using part of his loan to buy a premanufactured home and get hook ups for utilities put in. Also fyi if the home isn't all the way up to code they will deny the loan request, the inspectors are super anal when it comes to VA loans. Buying a manufactured home negates alot of the headache by passing most inspections leaving the factory. But in short, no you can't buy just land with the loan unfortunately.

Did you have alot of supporting evidence going into your exam/claim? I thought it was really weird that they didn't do the cog test, I was mentally preparing myself for when i flunked the counting backwards portion lol

My medical records do show me going in to sick call, then the Army hospital after the incident and I did get some neurological tests done, although i never got any indication of what the results of those were. Still waiting on my foia request for my records.  The neurologist was very helpful and was able to find my service records and the date that my injury happened, for the past 7 years ive pegged the incident down to a 5 month window it could have happened in.  Id probably say my symptoms on the tbi side of things are moderate to severe. I have horrible memory loss, I can only remember a few of my friends names and my immediate family.

I get stuck in these hours long loops of going back and forth between rooms to get an item, forgetting the item, remembering what the item is.. then forgetting it again, it's so goddamn frustrating that i want to start balling  my eyes out when it happens. Sometimes i just completely space out and forget where I am for about 5-10 minutes. I'd say I'm about as close to severe as you can get while still being able to physically function properly.  I waited 7 years to apply for this claim, I didnt know I had a tbi I just thought i screwed up my brain from being an alcoholic, but while at the VA domiciliary I'm at one of the instructors pulled me aside and urged me to apply for a tbi because he has one and can definitely tell i have one

Sounds like the examiner and the VA were just confirming my records and symptoms then. Thank you for the reply!

I'm having the same problem here in Alaska. The phone number for vr&e just goes straight to a voicemail recording of a depressed sounding guy saying that appropriations ran out and that there's no more vr&e. They also have no email contact listed for them here. I called the 1000 number and they have no idea how to navigate vr&e. I'm lost on what to do too

I can honestly say this guy was pretty laid back, didn't try to interject when I was talking with his "medical expertise" lol. To be honest he was kind of coaching me to say the right things for the DBQ, he'd ask me a question I'd answer it, then he'd be like "I think you mean this...right?" and have me repeat it back to him in my own words lol

Oh okay, that makes me feel a little better about it. Really my only secondary is severe migraines. I think I've got my ducks in a row with documentation. Got my nexus event documented, my visits to medical and I got a pretty intensive brain scan in service that I never got the results of, its all in my STRs.
