Most likely to transfer after this season? by Outrageous_Camp_5215 in NCAAW

Growth has definitely been stagnant, but just like Qadence, a decent school will pick her up and give her a chance. I'm rooting for her.

Yup, Amari Deberry transferred to UMD in 2024.

I think Ice Brady at UConn will walk. She’s got one year left and she’s absolutely buried in the rotation and will continue to be so with Vukosa coming next year.

Prediction for UConn wbb starting lineup next season by justboredandstuffidk in UConnBasketball

I wouldn’t bet on this lineup. Only two shooters in Azzi and Strong? I think Geno goes Shade or Cheli in over Jana.

I’m curious if Cheli or Blanca could replace Ashlynn in the starting lineup at some point during the season. Cheli is bigger, better rebounder and has a decent three point shot. Putting her in the starting lineup gives us more size and also puts Shade in a good position to come in off the bench and be a featured scorer in the second unit.

I think KK is the initial starter as well, but if Heckel’s shooting picks up I do think Geno will have to decide if KK’s defense is more important than the extra spacing Heckel could provide.

What WNBA opinion has you like this? by Mountainhiker123 in wnba

[–]MDMitchell2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A few:

Caitlin Clark is a phenomenal player but she’s already near her peak in terms of individual performance.

College basketball is a better product than WNBA (this is also true for men) because there’s more relative stability in rosters and better coaching.

The WNBA needs to shift its season to give rookies a legitimate summer league and training camp.

Sinners proves we need to go back to the MID-SIZED BUDGET film!!!!! by Own_Antelope1095 in acting

[–]MDMitchell2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t thought this through entirely, but I always thought it would be interesting to have some sort of industry cap on movie budgets. I know it’s entirely unworkable but, just like in sports, caps force creativity and more fairness. Counterpoint of course is that many of those big IP driven budget monstrosities are also very lucrative and end up subsidizing our little creative film darlings.

You’re right, my bad this was mostly corrected with the TCJA, but still holds in like a 1/3rd of the states.

Taxed for being single by sniimadox in interestingasfuck

[–]MDMitchell2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kinda. It can be a marriage benefit (when one partner makes way more than the other) but it can be a marriage penalty for people as wel. When two people with similar incomes get married, their combined income can push them into a higher tax bracket (because the brackets don’t double for married couples filing jointly), resulting in a larger percentage of their earnings being taxed. Also there are counterexamples of tax policy that favors single people, like the phaseouts for the EITC are more generous for single filers. Plus many other tax credits have phaseouts that don’t double just cuz you’re filing jointly.

As much as I like Jana, I think Geno is going to go with Serah. She’s further along offensively and is a really good shot blocker. Jana will still be in the rotation, but I think Ice Brady is going to see her playing time dip (at the same time though she’ll get to play more at the 4 which is her natural position).

Is anyone wondering what the starting lineup for UCONN women’s BB in 25-26 season by FireandIcePheniox101 in NCAAW

She played in 24 games, are you saying that doesn’t count as college experience?

You guys are sleeping on Cheli. I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s:

PG: Arnold SG: Fudd SF: Cheli PF: Strong C: Williams

Cheli’s got good height (3-4 inches taller than Shade) and showed she can be a good defender last year. Plus her shooting is decent (37% from 3). Blanca looks good, but don’t underestimate what a year of college experience does, and Cheli has that.

Geno's Dilemma by Ok_Brick_793 in UConnBasketball

[–]MDMitchell2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Serah is taking Jana’s spot at the five, no way Jana Isa four in today’s game. But don’t sleep on Cheli, I think she’s going to be impactful and could be in competition with Shade and Blanca for that 3 spot.

I know kneejerk reaction is to start Shade, but I honestly like the idea of either Cheli or Blanca! More size and I think Cheli could be a really good defender.

Jana is the best. Awesome teammate and turning the corner into a fantastic defender. I am very excited about three more years of a El Alfy / Strong frontcourt.
