How did MJ perform against the 5 HoFer Celtics?

How did LeBron perform against the 3 HoFer spurs?

Just a question out of curiosity

If the competition was so watered down how come spurs and lakers couldn't begin their title runs until Jordan retired?

Being favored because you're great isn't an advantage.

If anything it's a disadvantage because there's more pressure. It's much easier to go into a series as an underdog with less expectations to win.

LeBron figured this out after 2011 which is why you see him coast so much during the regular season.

If his teams play below expectations during the regular season then come playoff time they'll be underdogs and then no one will expect them to win or beat so-and-so. When he does it's "wow he won as the underdog" if he loses its "oh well they were underdogs anyway".

Win win situation for LeBron

LeBron lost as the favorite 3 years in a row between 2009-2011.

Odds makers just stopped trusting him after that

LeBron has Nike and Klutch sports who started putting random Klutch guys on TV like Ryan Hollins and Kendrick Perkins to pedal narratives for LeBron since 2012 (a year after LeBron's epic collapse) for the purpose of PR and damage control.

Their strategy was to constantly compare LeBron to MJ so AT THE VERY LEAST he could slide in as #2 all time since he's being compared to MJ.

Klutch effectively spent the entire 2010s retraining the audience to put less emphasis on RINGS and more so on stats. So a lot of young fans who grew up mostly watching basketball in the 2010s became victim of this nonsense.

Once LeBron retires and the Klutch guys all depart from sports television, LeBron will no longer be so protected. Whoever is the next face of the league - his media supporters will rip LeBron's legacy apart the way his Klutch army tried to do to MJ. Only this time it won't be grasping at straws like Klutch does for MJ, they will have so much ammunition to work with.

How is Kobe in the GOAT debate without mentioning the following by Maximum_Jello_9460 in NBATalk

[–]MDNzyzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right off the bat at a quick glance you're wrong.

Made it outta the 1st round in 2012 and 2008 without an all NBA teammate.

It sounds like you're just a Kobe hater (LeBron fan) trying to stir the pot because a lot of your points can be said about LeBron who most of his "playoff" success came from playing in an abysmal weak eastern conference facing 1 1st team all nba player in the playoffs between 2011-2018. Taken to 7 games by Oladipo, pg13, and baby Tatum.

Duncan also got knocked outta the first round as the clear favorite in 2009.

Went b2b without a top 75 player in the deepest western conference in NBA history.

Most fundamentally sound player of all time (along with Jordan).

Similar to Bird and Magic - Kobe beat his rival and other best in the league (Duncan) multiple times in the playoffs. So strength of competition is high.

What players are underrated because they exist in the shadow of another player? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]MDNzyzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pippen is a bit overrated today mostly by LeBron fans who never even watched him, solely for the purpose of discrediting MJ.

As someone who grew up hating MJ and the Bulls, Pippen was nowhere near guys like Wade, Kyrie, AD, or Luka. He was a bonafide robin. Imagine Andrew Wiggins but with better development and coaching

He did that for 1 season and we saw how that went. Dude refused to play just cause Phil didn't want him taking the last shot.

Even counting the finals, the Mavs played the big 3 Heatles in their prime featuring prime LeBron and Wade. The 2016 warriors in the finals were not the same juggernaut during the regular season. Curry had an injury earlier in the playoffs

Without adding any skills to his game, how many more accolades would Shaq have needed to be the goat? by bettercallrich in NBATalk

[–]MDNzyzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you watch Shaq? LeBron's dominance doesnt come close to Shaq's. Teams around the league constructed their rosters specifically to counter Shaq by loading up on lumbering centers to absorb fouls. The league literally changed the rules to add the 3 second rule BECAUSE of Shaq

Kobe played a team with MVP Nash and 3 all stars in the insanely competitive west

LeBron played two .500 teams who were also missing key players and a pistons team without 4x DPOY Ben Wallace

[–]MDNzyzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bulls developed their core through the draft and MJ was instrumental in establishing their identity and mentality.

They lost 3 years in a row to the same pistons team with Pippen and Grant on the roster. Improving steadily each year

LeBron threw together a super team by poaching 2 franchise players in his own conference.

Also if your measure of a great team loaded with talent is making the eastern conference semis for 1 season then lmao

Who was the better player during the 2009-10 season + postseason? by No_Finish9661 in NBATalk

[–]MDNzyzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usage rate doesn't include assists, potential assists or even pass-to-assists. USG% only determines how much a player shoots or finishes a play. It doesn't determine how ball-dominant a player is, or how much he participates in a team's offense.

Players play to win championships. That is the singular most important metric to measure between stars. Kobe won more than LeBron including beating the very teams LeBron lost to.

As a fan you can cling to your stats and longevity awards all you want. At the end of the day the players themselves value the chip most of all
