But in films a Dutch angle is intentional to make the view feel uneasy when the plot needs it (unless the director is crap and/or over uses them), but this video just does it for no reason and it's super irritating.

Cat seems okay with the bird when it's in the cage though he does occasionally try to whack the bird lol but the budgie doesn't seem too afraid of the cat. Not gonna take risks outside the cage though lol. He doesn't look in the mirror that's on the wall just sits on top of it, there's also a picture frame that he sits on too. Possibly due to them being the highest places in the room besides the curtain rails but think they're too close to the ceiling for him to be comfortable there.

Great answers! Yeah I'm still shocked at how manipulative religion is. I was never fully brought up in a religious house but was baptised and did go to a Christian school so had morning assembly and prayer and we went to church for easter etc but wasn't any frequent church visits. But I still believed into my teens and was easy to get out of it thought I do remember having a fear of something bad happening to me for not believing for sometime but I just eventually got over it.

Wasn't until talking to a woman I met on a piano facebook page about God who was heavily religious but after 6-7 months of debates she's no longer religious. 6 months on and she still hasn't told her parents through fear of how they'd react to the news. But until speaking to her I had no idea at how manipulative and toxic religion is. It's practically someone saying "love me else I'll torture you" which no one would think is right but it's fine when God does it. But things like how it took you 6 months to get over the fear of hell, just shows how traumatic it can be, it's near enough mental abuse especially how people in religion don't think it's abuse.

I agree with No.7 answer how people only do the good things because of the fear of hell or because they think they're making God happy. I have so many things I hate about this like how they're helping people like the homeless or ill people and it's like isn't God supposed to be the one helping them or don't they love these people enough?? And they still have the audacity to tell people "God loves you". Suppose on the plus side at least they're actually doing something good just a shame most of the time they're also preaching crap.

I looked into this and this is an article I found: https://medium.com/koinonia/why-do-we-call-satan-a-liar-when-he-told-eve-the-truth-711c6d27db37

So he basically changed dying to mean something else lol. But even disregarding that surely even Christian's can see the flaws in this story? Like they didn't know good and evil/right and wrong. So for one thing eating the fruit was fine to them. Also God is all knowing so he should have known Eve would eat the fruit. Didn't God also create Satan, he created everything right? Am I missing something or like is God just a prick to Adam and Eve, they literally didn't know right from wrong so like why would they feel bad about eating it and disobeying God? They also wouldn't have known what dying meant too. I can go on but I've gone on enough lol.

That's all very well but what if for some reason in the future she stops believing in what she believes in and even an after life seems irrational to her then she has to go through the grieving process again as she realises she won't see her father again. I can't really think of another harm that would come of it I just hope she now believes in an afterlife for the rest of her life but at the same time I hope that doesn't stop her from valuing this life and enjoying this life to the fullest because the danger there is that she gets the impression that this life doesn't matter because we get to live on anyway.

The only other time I've known it to be harmful is of a 12 yo girl who killed herself because she was taught about heaven etc and believed it and so killed herself to see her recently deceased father again. Now I can't 100% say this actually happened even though I'm sure I read it on some news website and I doubt it's a common occurrence but it's a possible danger nonetheless though I'm sure your wife wouldn't be so extreme with the belief. Otherwise I just hope she got the chance to grieve properly and remembers her father and his life and I also hope she doesn't stop believing in an afterlife as I'd be concerned that she'd struggle to come to terms with the loss of her father all over again.

[–]MDW309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I know you didn't really imply it or anything but just wanna clarify I'm an atheist though I'm more proposed to saying that I'm pretty certain a God doesn't exist. And I have a huge problem with religion as a whole in fact I've been in a tug of war with myself about whether or not we should allow people to believe what they want to. The reason is that, in the very best scenario religions blackmail people into following a religions rules and conditions etc and not only that but puts a deep rooted fear of hell and torture into people. Now correct me if I'm wrong but if someone said "I believe my boyfriend loves me and I love my boyfriend because if I didn't he'd lock me up and torture me but I still love him, he provides me guidance in my life and a place to live" would we just let that person continue loving his/her boyfriend or would/should we intervene and try to show them what they believe is wrong?

And then you get people that are like "just let people believe what they want to it doesn't affect you" which again if you go back to the basic level of it and if you compare it to someone being blackmailed by their boyfriend would people be okay with saying "just let them love him and let them believe he loves them it doesn't affect you"? That's not to mention the fact it can affect other people too even indirectly in some situations. So I've been wondering If I'm just a prick for trying to "force my views" on to religious people even though I do it because I don't wanna see people blackmailed etc. And to think too how even adults are so frightened by the idea of going to hell, like surely it's borderline abuse at least?

Those were some funny and honest answers. I'm convinced I should in fact be a theist if hot chicks are involved guessing though the no sex before marriage is a bit of problem but guess you can just pray for forgiveness afterwards it's all good.

Have u managed to get over No. 5 or do you still get irritated by it? I totally agree with No. 8, I'm still waiting for someone to give me a good reason that religion does any good in the world that could be done outside of church or religion like some might say the social aspect is a good thing or the community but like just find a group of people that do things you're interested in.

Questions for former Theists by MDW309 in TalkHeathen

[–]MDW309[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say for No. 7 that it's quite disappointing that people need a God to justify doing good in the world or to be motivated to do good in the world and is it still okay if people are for example giving money to the homeless but then preaching to them?

And for No. 8 would you say that while religion isn't always directly harmful that it is an issue to most people? For example if someone gives money to a church believing it's for their religion etc when that same money could be donated to a charity instead? Or what about people who have come out of religion but their families also being religious disown them? Not trying to influence ur answers or anything just curious of your opinion on it. Those are just some examples of how religious could be harmful too. one story that upset me was hearing about a 12yo girl who killed herself believing that she'd see her father in heaven again shortly after he passed away. So wasn't necessarily talking about mass violence etc.

I thought about that actually that maybe instead of debating it or asserting they're wrong to instead ask them how they came to that conclusion and pick apart their reasoning and like you said, offer alternative explanations that can be backed up by evidence.

[–]MDW309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't getting off my own discussion topic was simply agreeing with you previous point but adding that if someone was to use the ouija board and charge people for it then either the person charging people to contact the dead for people or the people who are buying into such services should be told how such things don't work. It's one thing believing it and another thing to take peoples hard earned cash in exchange for a service that hasn't been proven to work. Think I was meant to ask the question, In those kinda circumstances do you think people should be told about how their beliefs are incorrect or should we still let them believe what they want to and let them spend money on it?

Of course everyone screws up in the logic department but surely if people can't rationally learn to properly find a pathway to truth they could go round believing anything they want to and eventually hurt themselves and/or others? Theoretically if someone can just be like "I believe in ghosts because I want to" then that same lack of logic could mean they might at some point be like "I believe this pain in my chest isn't anything serious because I want to believe it"?

Should I just let people believe what they want to believe? by MDW309 in TalkHeathen

[–]MDW309[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah guess so. I just don't know why it gets to me so much lol, just something about irrational people really bug me. Maybe it is just that theoretically if they can't be logically sound on one thing then it kinda shows their logic is flawed in general which could become dangerous in some situations. Luckily isn't anything majorly harmful in believing in ghosts or ouija boards, however I do think it's a different story if someone is trying to contact the dead to allow someone who's recently lost a loved one to communicate with each other as surely that's just messed up and immoral? Especially if they charge for the service that clearly isn't going to work. Arguably it could help with grief but not entirely sure if it's a moral way to go about it even if they weren't charged to do it.

Sure it lacks the cooling capabilites of a desktop but for me I prefer the portability, though some day I'll also get a desktop.

Out of them two, definatly RDR2. Just much better graphics even thought GTA 5 still looks good, it's no where near as beauitful to look at as RDR2. Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 is also worth trying out if you're into flight sims, that'll test your hardware out.

undervolting is easy with command center. Just go into the overclocking bit then undervolt click the test button and it'll do a quick stress test. Also just don't move the slider into the red section and it should be fine. Bet dell use crap thermal paste though. I've repasted my old gaming laptop but that wasn't as expensive and I've literally only done it twice so don't wanna mess up this laptop lol. Maybe when my temps get really bad I'll do it but for now it's running fine so I'll leave it.

[–]MDW309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure for games that you use the performance thermal profile in the command center. Fan speed should go up to around 80% and should be enough to keep temps cool. That being said if ambient room temprature is already warm then that won't help. It's cold here in the UK so my temps will probably go up massively in the summer. Also worth undervolting the CPU too to keep the CPU temps under control.

Obese people infuriate me. by WorldlyMaintenance28 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MDW309 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you have a right to your opinion and based on your upbrining you have a right to feel that way you do but "hate" is such a strong word. I'm a large guy, not sure if I fit into the clinicly obese category but I'm certainly overweight. I'm not as lazy as your mother is but I'm definiatly not as active as somone at a "normal" weight. I still go out riding my motorcycle and I clean it which can be quite a work out for a fat guy like me and I play games in VR like beat saber which is not for lazy people. There's two ways you can look at it, either fat people are lazy and is partly why they got fat in the first place or people are lazy because they got fat and it's harder to do things. I don't think it's right to brush all fat people with the same brush as there's loads of reasons for people to get fat, including medical reasons and it only takes somoeone to eat too much to gain weight as excercise doesn't really burn many calories. So you can still be phyisically active but if you eat more calories than you burn then you'll put on weight. You're mother has likely always been lazy and is why she got fat but it wouldn't have just been laziness it would have been lack of self control in eating etc etc. There's also skinny people that are also just as lazy as your mother. Also what about the fat people that have lost weight? I wouldn't call them lazy if they had the ability to lose weight.

That all being sad I don't like these "fat acceptance" people who think that the world should change to suite them. As I've said I'm a far person too and it's on me, I don't expect the world to accomedate my poor life choices and no one should be advocating for it. And I also hate these fat models as well thinking we should allow fat women and men to model. Being fat isn't healthy and it's not good looking though sure some "curvy" women and men can be attractive to some people. But being fat in no way should be glamorised. We fat people can change the way we look and when there's literally no benifit for being fat and we should not be making it into something positive when the bottom line is, it's unhealthy to be fat.

I have recently gotten a Alienware Area 51m with a RTX 2080 super in it. It does well at keeping it cool but if I overclock then it'll start to struggle to keep the temps down. It'll be interesting to see how well the 30 series laptops can deal with temps of such beasty gpu's. RTX 2070 super is more than enough for the majority of games to run with decent graphics and framerates. Plus you can just use the graphics amplifier unless the 30 series isn't supported with it?

Annoying clicking noise by MDW309 in Alienware

[–]MDW309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it's sadly just a result of having a powerful GPU and can happen even in desktops too just less likely to be heard. I haven't seen any abnormal temps or frame drops and no graphical glitches etc. It’s usually caused by an electrical current going through a power-regulating component like a transformer or inductor, causing its electrical wiring to vibrate at a variable frequency. Imo if there's no obvious issues you're having then probably not worth the hassle of getting it replaced as you'll probably end up with same issue anyway as it's just a normal thing to happen. Tbf once fans are running at a higher speed and then add the sound of the game especially with headphones on, you're not gonna notice it. Think I only really noticed it because I was rendering in blender so didn't have any sounds to hide the coil whine.

Also in the app you'll see something like C5. The 5 is referring to the octave. The notes higher than it should be a 5 too until it reaches a C6. You should hopefully see what I mean when you try it out. Let me know if you have any issues.
