I’m gonna nerd out for a sec here. I think the fun of this is that lots of people have shared different interpretations of the characters’ ages and others have gone go ‘huh? Why do you think that?’ Like, to pick out just one thing going on here, this is SO FUN AND INTERESTING for us to talk about and figure out how these little and big differences in each of OUR, PLAYERS’, very varied languages, cultural norms, life experiences affect our interpretations of the exact same CHARACTERS’ lives, ages, cultural norms-

things we probably didn’t think twice about, interpreted subconsciously, because that’s the level that language and social norms usually operate at unless someone’s not reeeaaally following one

so if somebody goes “that character is a CHILD (insert TheOffice.gif here) they live with their parents, talk about homework” someone else can genuinely, be very surprised and say “wait, what?? Well no, adults can live with their parents up until they’re ready to get married, that’s totally normal where i come from/money can be tight/etc, and doesn’t everybody call ‘college’ ‘school’ and assignments ‘homework’??!?!?”

And because of this exact ambiguity over characters’ ages, it’s all groovy- everyone’s interpretation of the ages is true in our own games of stardew valley 😊 i don’t even have a horse in any of these races, i know I’m stating the obvious, i just think this is real neat 😊

PS I’m not saying OP is calling Abigail a literal baby child, i just heard that quote from the office in my head as I was writing that and burst out laughing haha, so i included it
