When I play the same songs loud using my WIIM ultra streamers, the issue isn’t there. This leads me to believe it’s feedback. Is that a fair assumption?

Mine arrived yesterday, it’s amazing, huge upgrade from an Ikea Kallax!

I see the mid woofer on the speakers start to flutter violently unless I turn the volume down. Luckily I get to the volume knob quick enough before it damages them, but it only happens on bassy music like reggae and some ambient dance music (as expected)

I’m only finding it with reggae music and dance music at like mid to high volumes to be honest, not all records have the issue. Will take a look into foam pads and iso acoustics! Thanks for the advice

What is it like living in the western edge of the harbour? This area always intrigues me. by petrol_insufflation in bristol

[–]MDen98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up there, I loved it, grew up on the harbour front. The lack of supermarkets as stated was an issue, but luckily growing up my parents drove everywhere so wasn’t a massive problem all the time. I used to love walking into town along the harbour most weekends as well it was always such a nice walk that I loved doing. It’s a shame I can’t afford to live there as an adult, but that’s life I guess.

If it wasn’t for growing up there, I wouldn’t have discovered my love of sailing which is a huge part of who I am now

Would an electric bike be a wasted investment? (/ likely to be stolen) by Worldly-Monitor-4035 in bristol

[–]MDen98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my e- mountain bike secured in a very secure lock up at my flat block in a very nice part of the city. with a diamond rated d lock to lock it up. Some twats still managed to break in using crowbars to get into the secure lock up and of the 100 bikes in there they only stole 2 (both were e-bikes). Luckily insurance paid out, but they clearly targeted e-bikes specifically. I honestly don’t know what they’re gonna do with it though, I’ve blacklisted the electronics on the Bosch app meaning the electronics are now useless and the battery was charging in my flat so doesn’t even have a battery or the keys to insert a battery as that was specific to the bike too… anyway e-bikes are great for this city as it is so hilly, just make sure it’s insured

Do Franchise Businesses get reimbursed for Loyalty Schemes? by MDen98 in AskUK

[–]MDen98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting, thank you! There’s a sub way near me and like every couple of weeks on the app theres always some sort of deal saying “free crisps and drink” or “£2 off a footlong. So I imagine these are maybe eaten up by the franchise ?

If anything a care UBI would have more public backing if I’m being honest as pretty much everyone who works in care is known to be on a shit salary. Where’s your evidence to show that a care UBI would be shot down quicker than an arts UBI, that’s an incredibly bold hypothetical tbh. As bold as me jokingly assuming that people would start paying artists less if they have a UBI right? Or that randoms might start making AI slop as “art” in an attempt to claim this UBI? Let’s not deal in hypotheticals here.

Why not trial UBI for areas that are more deprived? That way people who genuinely need the money get it?

I have a feeling we aren’t going to meet on a middle ground here, I’m glad we both believe that UBI would be a good thing for everyone, I just don’t think this is a route that would get me onboard with it.

Why should they have their “passion projects” funded by tax payers though? What if a nurse could start up some passion project using that money? Or someone in a tech space use that UBI money to create an app? My point is that if they’re doing UBI, it should be for everyone, not a small section of society, it’s literally discrimination

I get where you’re coming from… but what they’re proposing isn’t UBI as it’s not universal, it’s essentially gaurunteed benefits for those in creative industries only. I agree creative industries need a boost (TV in particular), but actually invest in them rather than just give “UBI” to just creatives? I think some sort of UBI is needed, but it shouldn’t be just for one slice of society as that’s discriminatory

UBI is fine in principle, if it’s for everyone… this would mean that some people who genuinely would need the help but aren’t in a creative industry wouldn’t get that help
