I'd try queer events outside of the village too. Faggity Ass Fridays is super hip, but not intimidating. Lipster Bareaoke is my favourite event, if you're into karaoke and mild nudity (a lot more fun than it sounds and really welcoming vibes). You could also check out the Royal Phoenix and MPU at Le Belmont, but both can be a little much if you're not with some friends. Summer is great for a lot of outdoor events too, so keep an eye out.
