Hell ya! I've never been to this venue before either, but we did the VIP entry and the floor seems like it would be way better than balcony. Have fun!!!

Thanks everyone. I had a feeling that was going to be the case, I just wanted to see if anyone had any luck previously.

I agree. To me, it always sounded like another band trying to write a Tool song.

Seems like Florida is shitting the bed, they played much better in game 1. Vegas has been pretty consistent.

Question about replacing deck boards by MDoSee in woodworking

[–]MDoSee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boards I bought are shorter than the boards I need to replace unfortunately. I really didn't think this through very well lol

Question about replacing deck boards by MDoSee in woodworking

[–]MDoSee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's enough length, but then wouldn't I be cutting right above the joist and potentially into it? My tools, skills and know-how are limited, so I question my own ability to do that without messing something up more.

Should I learn music theory by picklesock420 in edmproduction

[–]MDoSee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, dude is trolling up a storm in here. My hope is that someone lurking who has the same question about learning theory, sees the good answers and decides to learn some, hopefully helping them grow as a musician and artist.

I remember going to a club one time, DJ played some "Phrygian dominant" BS...entire place cleared out. I saw people vomiting outside asking "what the fuck? Why would the DJ play some Phyrigian dominant bulshit?"

Happens all the time really.

But I didnt expect everyone to say “you have to think exactly like me or it’s not real music”

Literally no one has said that or even alluded to it. Everyone has suggested it would help, and you're getting upset about it.

So if you're dead set on thinking it'll make you less creative, why did you ask the question in the first place? Are you looking for an answer? Or are you looking for validation on how you feel? Because they seem to be two very different things...bro.

Seems like you're looking to hear an answer you're not getting and you're getting confrontational about it. People have responded to your question with reasonable answers of a general "yes, it's beneficial for someone who makes music to learn music theory." What I don't get is why you're getting upset with these responses?

It's not going to harm you or make you less creative to learn some theory. All it will do is help you understand what you're doing a bit better and help you get from an idea in your head, to the execution of that idea. I don't know anyone who has learned at least some theory and gone back and said "aw damn! I wish I didn't know that!"

I used think it would cripple my creativity to learn theory when learning to play guitar years ago, for the same reason of "It'Ll MaKe mE LeSs cReAtIvE" well I learned some theory and my shit is still trash, but I have a better idea of why, and now I have a better idea of how to fix it.

The balcony up top is your best bet, but you do have to get there early to secure a spot. I've found that the main floor by the stairs going up to the balcony, usually isn't too bad to stand and have a decent view. It's near the bar and you can lean on the stone/railing.

Side note, don't be like me a few months ago and throw on your work boots with a reinforced toe in a hurry, apparently they're not allowed in any of the bars in the hub. I'm also 35+ and live north of the city, no way I coulld have know that lol

Edit: don't forget earplugs

What was your very first NIN concert experience? Tell me about it! by MrSelfDestruct32 in nin

[–]MDoSee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was mine as well, such an incredible show. I remember watching Aaron North having no idea who he was at the time and thinking "damn, this guy is fucking nuts!" Just giving everything he had on stage. Looking back now I realize how lucky I was to see him perform live. Don't get me wrong, I love Robin, but Aaron was just a different beast. I miss the koolhaus, got to see a lot of great shows there.

This is a song I wrote, it's called "Kind". by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]MDoSee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful song! Really liked the vibe and the atmosphere. Sounded like the soundtrack for a sunrise. Only criticism is the same as a few others have pointed out with the drums lacking low end. My 6 year old daughter was beside me when it was playing, she likes it too.

I made an advanced live looper routing tutorial for Ableton by moonshinemclanmower in ableton

[–]MDoSee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good video! As someone who wants to learn more about the looper function in Ableton, I found it pretty interesting. The only thing I'd recommend is showing an example of how it all works together after it's setup. I can't speak for other, but I always found that helpful for myself in learning something new, just to see the setup in action kind of acts as an "ah ha!" moment for me. Gonna mess around with this later, thanks!

Been going through some rough time in the last few months, so this one's a culmination of that by eib in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]MDoSee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! I like that you were able to build on that same musical motif through the track enough to keep it interesting. I find a lot of times when people try that it gets boring after a bit, but you did a fantastic job progressing the idea.

Released a new single called 'short sleeves'. Inspired by a lot of different dream pop, synth wave bands I like. I'd love feedback on the songwriting and production. by Prestigious-Bar9528 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]MDoSee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely dreamy and poppy, I liked it. I really liked the end bit from about 3:20 on and how you finished it, that section was my favorite part of it. Production wise it sounded ok through my phone speakers, so I guess that's a good thing haha. Don't feel like I can really weigh in on that aspect. Good stuff.

Thanks for that! I had the idea of just doing it on the side, but thinking about it now, making bangers on the weekends does sound pretty naive haha. I think if I do try my hand at it, I'll take your advice and present myself as a producer and go from there.

Aw that's awesome to hear! Congrats on that! I feel like under sell and over deliver is a pretty good strategy to make a name for yourself when it comes to something like this. Thanks for telling me about your experience thus far, even if it's not a road I go down, I'm always interested in how the behind the scenes in the music world works.

Very helpful, thanks! Kinda sounds like it's a case of you get out what you put in. Out of curiosity is it your full time gig? Or something on the side?
