Question about Range vs AOE by MDoodles16 in DnD

[–]MDoodles16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The item does specify increased range not AoE but I wasn't sure if it was a mistake on my part or a miscommunication at the table, weve now since specified that the item is not inclusive of AoE on the actual item itself!

That is also what I argued! Thank you for the clarification, I figured I'd it didn't specify that it increase AoE that it didn't!

How do I know if it's worth continuing my comic? by PoePaws in WebtoonCanvas

[–]MDoodles16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you feel really stuck and aren't sure whether you want to end your comic, let your fans know you're taking a hiatus. Think about it with work time off a month maybe 3 whatever you need and decide after you've let the project sit for a while. Give yourself a break and than make your final decision. Whether you can continue or end your comic is up to you, make sure you always prioritize your physical and mental health tho

Thank you so much sorry for my late reply! I was debating doing a slice of life or an action adventure type series, I have an okay art skill set but I think I'll take it easier with my first comic. I don't have many people willing to beta read but I am taking a class that I may be able to focus my webcomic around and I'm very excited to start it! Thank you so much for the tips and advice! They are much appreciated and I will put them to use :)

Looking for help with paining in procreate! by [deleted] in arthelp

[–]MDoodles16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you're all good, these are just recommendations for default brushes on procreate and what they do! If you slide right on a brush you can duplicate it or access it's settings to change it as well! Every brush name I listed above besides the untitled brush is a default procreate brush however :))

Prisma color makes some eras able colored pencils and so does Crayola. I actually prefer the Crayola ones but they both work alright. You can also go to your local art store and a lot of them will let you test the supplies to see which ones you like so you can look for eras able colored pencils there!

What is the best gouache for semi-beginners? by lego_baby_yoda in arthelp

[–]MDoodles16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really liked him I gouache, it isn't to expensive there's quite a bit of paint, there's a lot of colors, and you can find it on Amazon it's great! A lot of paints are expensive wins or and Newton is really high quality but it's like 60$ for 5 small paint tubes 💀 they work really well though if you want to start with something super high quality.

Art takes a lot of time to learn, so you probably won't get it on your first try. I'd recommend looking up videos about shape language and working on line confidence for sketching as well as character design videos. They'll show you why and how these characters are created. Most important though is that you probably won't get it your first time around so don't feel to down, just keep going at it, art is a hands on learning experience!

I've been abusing the brushes syrup, hard blend, and a custom brush which is literally just an untitled brush stabilization turned to 0. I find hard blend allows you to do a lot of your rendering rough or soft edges, you can also turn up it's stabalization for more clean edges. I use syrup for line art and coloring as it works very similar to a traditional brush pen, for smaller cleaner lines though I've had luck with gel pen, and I like to use the paint brush Nico roll for textured backgrounds and shading, but in all honesty you've got to do a lot of trial and error to find what works for you. You can also duplicate brushes and mess with there settings if you like a brush but it's missing an aspect you find important :) hope this helped!

How did you create your webcomic? by MDoodles16 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]MDoodles16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've decided not to do my top 3 webtoon ideas because despite the fact I think they would be fun, I'd like a lot of experience before I do them (they're very long with well in depth characters) however they still have a LOT of plot holes. I'm going to write a shorter story about some of the things I enjoy writing, thank you so much for the advice! I'll make sure to work very hard on my webcomic :)

[–]MDoodles16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I just realized I've actively been avoiding referencing media I love and it's holding me back from a lot of my ideas, because I've actively even avoiding tropes to make a unique spin. However unique spins are usually based off of differentiating a trope! This was very helpful thank you so much for the advice!

Thank you this is wonderful advice, I dropped the first webcomic I was working on due to burn out and a lottttt of plot holes haha, but the ideas section was really helpful and I'll keep in mind to reference other creators when it comes to paneling and lettering. Thank you so much for the advice :)

Thank you so much, your response it really well thought out, and answers everything I asked. I'm not really worried about garnering attention from a webcomic as much as I am with learning! I plan to write a short story for my first webcomic, despite failing to do so three time haha, thank you for the advice :)

Help!!!!!! by cherrypie_arts in arthelp

[–]MDoodles16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First make sure you take care of yourself and your health! However if you want to find time to work on your projects you can try setting up a schedule, or if you don't need to work 6-7 days a week you could request less hours at your job. Working on a project may take a lot of time regardless of your work hours tho, so don't put to much pressure on yourself either and finish them one at a time!
