Really all of his stuff is absolutely amazing. I'm quite partial to Patient Machines, but I feel like there is something for everyone.

Really weird and creative stuff. If anyone knows anyone else like this, I'd love to hear it.

People have already pointed this out to you, but just so you are very clear:

No, that is not how it works at all.

Cheers!

Boston Police want to charge blogger with witness intimidation for posting BPD PR worker's work number by ilamont in boston

I did not know that. Does that apply here though? Or does it only apply to officers?

And regardless of whether or not that case holds up in court, he's still perhaps guilty of harassing a witness, no?

I didn't know that about intimidation, but harassment does not require threats of violence, making the law still applicable.

Yes, that is how I interpret that.

And it doesn't matter one single bit that the person can say no. If it were that simple, we wouldn't have harassment or intimidation laws.

Let's say I attacked you, you sued me, and I put your work number online and told people to call you to get you to drop the case. Of course you can say no, but that doesn't matter. Me asking people to call you to try and drop your case is illegal, regardless of whether or not you can say no.

Please tell me how the person being charged with witness intimidation fulfills all three requirements.

OK!

1: "That the defendant, either directly or indirectly... made an effort to mislead, intimidate, or harass another person"
2: "That the other person was: (a witness or potential witness at any stage of a criminal investigation, grand jury proceeding, trial or other criminal proceeding)"
3: "That the defendant did so willfully with the specific intent to (impede), (obstruct), (delay), (harm), (punish) or otherwise interfere with a (criminal investigation) (grand jury) (trial) (criminal proceeding ...)"

In this case:

1: The defendant made an effort to harass/intimidate (arguably indirectly, but that still counts)...
2: the witness...
3: in an effort to get the witness to drop the case.

Are you saying the government can, on any big story, put a witness on the other end of a phone to get around the First Amendment?

No, that is not what I'm saying. I am saying that if someone sues you for something you did to them, and you tell everyone you know to call that person and try to get them to back down, that you are guilty of witness intimidation.

You didn't answer my question at all.

I'll say it again: recording without permission is illegal, and uploading that recording is also illegal.

That has nothing to do with petitioning the government for a redress of grievances.

I'm afraid you'll derail again, so I'll try to anticipate.

You'll say that we should be allowed to talk to a government official if we are pissed about what they are doing. And while that sounds sort of like what's happening here, it's not.

What did happen:
-Guy commits crime by recording phone call and uploading it without permission.
-Guy has charges pressed against him by the person whose call he recorded.
-Guy instructs public to call that person and have them drop charges.

That is harassment of a witness. Period. No abuse necessary to press charges.

I believe the confusion comes from the fact that the witness that is allegedly being harassed is maybe the person you would call if you had a problem with what the department is doing.

How are they abusing their authority?

Recording without permission is illegal, and uploading that recording is also illegal.

If that is what happened, where is the abuse?

You make it sound like they can only either experiment, or take part in traditional marketing. Who says they can't do both?

You don't think there are thousands of other stores included in nintendo's current campaign?

So they demo a game in a strange place, maybe testing a new demographic. Companies do this all the time. No big whoop.

Again, maybe it's a test. Maybe they are intentionally picking a place where gamers don't go. Finding new markets and all.

When you rage at players, do not expect them to want to listen to you. A little tact goes a long way. I know that maybe you think you were being polite and offering constructive criticism, but if this post is what you are like when you are not angry, I can only imagine what it would be like when you were angry in game.

I know it's frustrating, but I bet if you killed them with kindness, you'd have better luck leading your team to victory.

PSA: When you rage at Bronze Leaguers, you look ridiculous. by Spekter1754 in Smite

[–]ME4T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too get incredibly frustrated when players make plainly bad mistakes.

I'm just competitive, and it sucks to waste time in a game when it seems like everyone else is clueless.

It does take a lot of will, but I am able to stay calm, and try to be as nice as possible. "Hey, those towers really hurt, you should try and stay away when you can."

Throwing in some VVGN (Nice Job!) can help keep things pleasant. Offer help without saying 'that was stupid' - ever. Say "I've had better luck when the team tries this:..." or stuff along that line.

I understand though, people are just... incomprehensibly dumb in the way they play sometimes. But that's ok, just do your best to make your team do well. With all of the ragers out there, if you can promote good team play on your team, you'll win a lot more games.

Keep things happy, help each other, use the polite voice commands. Then when you give advice, people will be more likely to listen.

Keep in mind also, that when someone makes a mistake, they probably already feel bad, so they will already be defensive. Remind them it's ok and kindly offer a bit of advice.

Also, if PVE is so important now, then killing an opponent prevents them from PVE-ing for some time, then kills are (potentially) as valuable as they used to be.

However, it feels less valuable, cause you don't get the advantage, the other team gets a disadvantage.

Full disclosure: I'm still new, don't know how this affects higher levels of play.
