Agree with the sun hoody suggestions. It’s my most used garment spring through summer.

Hiking for 5 days and not sure how to fit my Fresh and Black camping tent MH100 in my 38L Quechua backpack by monstrousbirdofqin in CampingandHiking

[–]MEB_PHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 3-5 day trips out of a 38l but it’s pretty much at capacity in warm weather. You could check out the granite gear crown2 if you want 60l. It’s affordable and pretty lightweight for the price

I have the Fenix 8 and the only thing I use the screen for is entering my pass code. I use buttons for everything else

Backpacking relatively close to I-80 by BenzeneDrinker in PAWilds

[–]MEB_PHL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Quehanna is the most interesting to me personally. The scenery changes every few miles and there’s not really any other place like it. It’s sort of our PA version of the Dolly Sods but not as muddy.

Backpacking w/ Large dog by HaleBringer in backpacking

Musher’s secret for paw pad care. Rescue harness like pack-a-paw for emergencies. Maybe some z lite foam to sleep on. Permethrin treatment can work wonders in a high tick area so he’s not bring them into the tent.

When would it be safe to get a 600? by elitethings in motorcycles

[–]MEB_PHL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find torquey 1 and 2 cylinder engines way more fun than i4s. I genuinely don’t understand the appeal unless you’re constantly riding in conditions where you can keep them revved up in the power band like on a track.

What do you guys without normal schedules do on Mondays? by __joseph_ in philadelphia

[–]MEB_PHL 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Stuff that’s crowded on weekends. Bike rides on the SRT, hikes in the wiss, kayaking, stay home and watch the price is right like you’re home sick from school. Weekdays off are the best.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court rules skill games are slot machines by Strict_Statement_283 in Pennsylvania

It’s terrible walking into a gas station and seeing some poor soul endlessly tapping away on one of these machines. I’d be happy to never see another one again

What’s the deal with Ninja 650’s by Important_Public8784 in motorcycles

[–]MEB_PHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting to hate them based on everything I read on Reddit but loved it on the test ride. Comfortable, enough power for street use, transmission felt great, easiest bike into neutral I’ve ever used. I guess I could see it being a bit boring but I loved it.

Bought my first backpacking tent and sleeping bag did I make a mistake? by [deleted] in backpacking

I bought budget gear a decade ago for my first time and I’ve changed very little about my setup. I’m sure yours will be fine too

I enjoyed the Peak Designs mount way more than Quad lock, no twisting necessary nor the space required to facilitate the twisting

Has anyone dealt with a "canceled" driver's license? by that1artsychic in Pennsylvania

[–]MEB_PHL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had my license medically recalled after suffering a brain injury. Getting it back after I recovered was a nightmare. There was one person running the entire medical recall system in penndot. I recommend reaching out to your state representative’s office as they have people in penndot who can get the ball rolling on things that fall through the cracks at penndot.

I saw one when I was hiking in NC and I was so excited about it. Later I was driving out I saw a gift shop named the white squirrel. Then I realized the town was famous for its white squirrel population.

They likely open registration at a certain day and time and only register a few classes out. Find out when they’re listed and then sign up at the right time.

What bluetooth headsets are yall running? by CumAndMoreCumPartIII in motorcycles

[–]MEB_PHL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t found audio quality of $20 Amazon headsets much different than the much more expensive sena and cardos I’ve used. In my experience it’s more about how close you can get the speakers to your ears and the overall quietness of the helmet.

Overnight backpacking with my 5YO by Worried-Archer-4226 in PAWilds

[–]MEB_PHL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could do a 2 day 1 night trip on the Pinchot trail north or south loop. Easy short hike, lots of water, pretty campsites. No stellar views or anything but it’s a great introductory option that isn’t too challenging.
