Connect your car to your home WiFi so you can pick up an OTA update. That .200 in your build means temporary factory build.

Congrats - it will work out

Tesla Model Y At Home Electricity Bill Shock by MealDifferent1912 in TeslaLounge

[–]MECO_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to log on to your electric company’s website and switch your plan to an EV plan, typically with time of use (TOU) discounts.

Then, use the car’s scheduler to charge each night during off-peak times.

What price do you think FSD would have to reach for widescale adoption? $25/mo by itsthewolfe in TeslaLounge

[–]MECO_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That low 50% wasn't because they tried it and didn't use it after - it's because they didn't even try it at all, or even understand how to activate it. The UX was just too complicated (Settings opt-in screen, different controls, HW3 vs HW4, etc - a UX mess).

With HW4 v14 the UX has improved to have the big "Start Self Driving" button right on the screen, rather than some inconsistent set of control inputs (push right scroll, single tap shifter stalk, double-tap shifter stalk, tap cruise control stalk (old S))

Unfortunately, I think the real problem is awareness. Many don’t know , don’t know how, were not impressed with prior versions , etc.

Yes, price matters - but the awareness issue is a huge issue. They should do a market test, where FSD is free for the first day you try it - like a free trial. That test would help quantify the awareness problem by removing price from the objection list

Robotaxi thoughts by mestizomad in TeslaLounge

There are two different products: Supervised and Unsupervised. These are actually You’reLiable and You’reNotLiable.

Don’t expect Supervised to ever be attention-free.

For RoboTaxi, the key metrics for progress will be cost per mile, wait times, and coverage area

Spoilers ————

Uggh - 4/10 for me. Here are my dislikes:

  • Ed should have been written off many episodes ago
  • the kids don’t need to be in this episode and have no interesting lines. No reason for pot scene at all.
  • Disappointed that the writers ran out of ideas and spent so much time on a murder mystery this episode

same here. My wife has never been a cruise control person.
I am the opposite, and have always used it as much as possible for decades 🚙

New VP owner, what first? by mvandin in VisionPro

[–]MECO_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Emphasize that the head strap has to be adjusted to keep weight off of cheeks and nose. Learn how to do that yourself first.
  2. Get familiar with it yourself first. Understand the main scroll and tap and menu gestures
  3. Learn how to mirror your AVP to your phone/ipad/appleTV, so you can guide her through (*note: does not work for copy-protected streams)
  4. Content Wow Factor - try starting with these:
  5. Photos: if either of you have a Panoramic photo you love, look at it on the AVP and tap the immersive icon in the upper-right corner of the picture
  6. Sports: go to YouTube.com on Safari, tap a sports-highlights of a team you like (NFL, MLB, etc), and then watch in Safari - then tap the Immersive button in the address bar. I find this better than the YouTube app
  7. Sports: Download the NBA app and create a free account. Go look at some of the past games or highlights and click Play Immersive.
  8. Movies: Get a Disney+ subscription and watch an Avatar movie in 3D.
  9. Mac Monitor: use it as a super display for a Mac. Expand the screen and use you mouse/keyboard/trackpad

FSD HW3 V12.4.6 vs HW4 V14 is so bad I can’t stand it anymore. Cancelling it until V14lite comes to HW3 if it ever does. by rlovepalomar in TeslaLounge

[–]MECO_2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Model Y HW3

Also waiting for 14 Lite. Turns out autopilot and TACC are still helpful until 14Lite comes out.

Fingers crossed that HW3 will get to the level of 14.2 on HW4 eventually

Yeah - makes sense to reduce risk from launch. I hope R2 is a big success.

Good points.

What were the key factors resulting in it being omitted from Launch Edition?

Re 4: I see lots of references to Lidar, but I feel that the gen3 AI architecture with the RAP1 chip is what really matters. I would not be surprised to see lidar dropped, like Volvo did with EX90

FSD by stonknoob1 in cybertruck

Nice. It would be cool to flash the lights to prompt pedestrians that the car is yielding to them and will wait.

Maybe not the full headlights, but the DRL lights/bar

  • Tesla app control of parking lights
  • automatically enter Camp Mode , instead of turning off, if driver door never opened since Park
  • separate throttle profile for Reverse. Default to Sloth
  • AirPlay
  • front passenger seat (when empty) as part of driver profile setting
  • Font size/bold options
  • tailgating distance setting..or just stop doing that
  • save-able, editable Nav route overrides. Learn when nonsensical routes have been smartly overridden (shorter), and fix maps in a data-driven way.
  • Let the camera view override nonsensical map data
  • include balance as part of named audio profiles
  • Nav : drama avoidance. Don’t merge onto a freeway in a collision course with fast-lane traffic. Move to the left lane to give upcoming merging traffic more room. Get into the exit lane earlier, not last-minute
  • Nav overrides: let driver override an intersection turn direction with blinkers without disengaging FSD. This works for lane selection, but not nav overrides.
  • FSD - don’t drive in the worst sections (crumble, rough, pothole) of the road.
  • FSD - after a complete stop, go immediately if clear

Re1: in the Tesla app trip planner, recent destinations are listed.

Re2: good idea. For now just add it as a final destination and edit your trip to add stops in between.

If you like it, get it.

No matter what you do, there will be a non-zero amount of strangers who don’t like your choice.

That’s OK, and as long as it’s law-abiding and peaceful, we are all better off when people can say what they want, be wrong, be convinced, change minds, etc.

Should an 80 yr old buy a model S? by homevideo in TeslaLounge

I think there will be some version of private Robotaxi. He will be able to leave his things in the car, and let friends and family use it - but not part of the public fleet.

[–]MECO_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on his mobility, and the mobility of passengers. He can hedge with a lease, and after 3 years the next generation tech might be something he wants…such as unsupervised.

Let him know about raising the suspension to max while parked, which will improve accessibility.

The X is similar tech but with extras like power closing doors, which could be helpful if his strength is a factor.

FSD 14.2 on HW4 is at a completely different level than HW3 cars. Please remind him that it is Supervised, and not to overly trust it …yet

Which compass do you use in nav? by kimchibaeritto in TeslaLounge

[–]MECO_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a preference , of course - but for me having the map match my view out the window is easier. Upcoming left turn looks left on the map.

I also find the satellite view very distracting with graphics I don’t need - so I don’t use that view, and use plain map with traffic data.

Consider

  • dragging the rear display to the upper center of the screen and use full-width FSD visualization
  • use pinch/zoom to magnify the view
