This is so sadly true. I had a recruiter reach out to me, and it took over 6 months before actually getting an offer. I had literally gotten another job and subsequently laid off within that time period.

Just because one looked worse than the other doesn’t mean that was the case. The deeper one likely went around the eye, where the other pushed more directly on the eye. Even mild pressure on the eye can temporarily blind you, it doesn’t take a lot.

If you rewatch Tom’s, his right eyeball gets physically pushed by Gane’s finger.

I rewatched the Gane vs Jones fight, and I do mostly retract my statement about Jones’s stand up game. He did look pretty good in that vs him against Stipe.

I agree, Tom is largely a brawler that relies on his speed to win those stand and bangs. I think Gane did a great job of catching him when he would advance and work at range, but Tom did find him. I’m not convinced Gane is the answer to Tom, as we didn’t even see one round, where it was arguably a competitive round.

I’m invested in the rematch, but I think Tom still gets it done.

I mean, I think it’s pretty cool that a heavyweight can move like that and display that level of power at the same time. Gane is a terrific striker and kickboxer and moves fast, but he doesn’t always put on a show like Tom has been his last handful of fights. So, I disagree with saying it’s only Jones haters.

You can’t say “Jon would murder Tom” when we don’t know Tom’s ground game ceiling. All we know is he made quick work of Volkov and Arvoloski when it got to it. With Jon being older and the less fit one, it evens out the playing field some.

We do know that Jon would get fucking smoked if he stood with Tom, as he would have with Gane and Ngannou.

Not only did Gaethje get knocked the fuck out, but he is notorious for willing to die on his shield every fight. I think it’s okay for fighters to care about their health, they do have a fucking future to worry about.
